If the OP is giving their car keys to someone who they believe isn't meant to be driving does that mean they're liable for any insurance issues (regardless of who they are)?
The offence of "causing or permitting" driving without insurance is strict liability. In particular, "I didn't know" is NOT a defence. So, yes, if there was anything that might affect this odd job man's cover, the OP could well be liable for a conviction (+ 6 points, + a hefty fine, + the usual consequences on their own premiums) themselves.0 -
