Motoring court case.

I dont know if this is the right board but hopefully someone can help.
I have reason to believe that an employee of mine has been charged with a serious motoring offence. I don’t have any information but was wondering if there is any way I can find out if there is a court case pending. I don’t want to ask the person concerned directly for personal reasons. However, I would like to know if there has been any kind of arrest made. I have looked on thr GOV site but cannot see where any details will be. thank you

Surely it's none if your business unless he is found guilty and even then unless relevant to his employment why do you need to know?

Like-wise, I don't think it's any of your business, however I consider it is my business because he drives for me on occasion, taking my grandchildren to school. He has no idea that I am aware of him having been arrested, so I think I am entitled to know, don't you?

You may think you are, but...
no, you are not entitled to know.

If you have nothing productive to say, may I suggest you scroll past. I don't have time for people who waste my time. I think I have every right when my g/children's safety. Wouldn't you want to know? I suspect you would. I am concerned that he will not tell me the result of the case, because he knows he will lose his job.

What you think is immaterial. As KeithP says you have no right to know. Whilst you may not like it that's how it is.

You are innocent until proved guilty so unless he is successfully prosecuted you are stuffed.

What is his job, you say he drives for you on occasion taking your grandchildren to school.
As part of his job is he required to have a clean driving licence?
If he is paid to look after other peoples children ( ie Yours) does he have a current CRB/DBS and any other such stuff required for such a task?

How do you know that this employee, who is driving your grandchildren to school, doesn't already have any criminal or motoring convictions?

If he drives for you, you as an employer have a right to access his D/L details for check online. As he drives as part of his job, You can ask for his D/L number or ask for a code generated for a one time use/view.

Does his contract say his employer can do random or quarter/half yearly checks on driving offences? If not update your workforce contracts giving them notice that random spot checks will be required for insurance purposes. It is obviously his right to decline giving you his details/code, But of course your right to terminate his employment should he want to go down this route.

This is what my employment requires, And I've signed to agree to these terms.

    Hopefully this helps you out?
