They shouldn't tell you to not use the phone for 11 days because of their mistake.

All they need to do is to refund the two unsent texts as well as the ones they've already sent.

Why people bother with these short codes for ringtones, games,TV voting etc I will never know.

Is there any way to stop it from functioning, like you can block your phone from making calls to premium rate lines on O2?

It doesn't help many of the people here, but if you are on T-mobile, there is a charge to account bar that you can activate to stop receipt of chargeable texts, I believe.

    Any more details on this?

I have just had a awful call with vodafone regarding unsolicated text messages. They won't do anything but aid and albeit the text scam.

I'm bumping this thread so others are aware of this problem.

This is the reply from t mobile

Thanks for your email Tania, asking me to confirm if T-Mobile have the facility to bar shortcode and premium rate messages as you're currently looking to leave Vodafone after receiving unsolicited text messages.
I'd like to tell you that we can make sure that you don't receive any unsolicited messages by adding a bar to your account. This will stop any services being sent to your phone, including downloads, such as ringtones, games, pictures and videos. It will also stop alert services such as football alerts, alerts from your bank and horoscopes.
Thanks again for taking the time to email me Tania, and I'm sure the information I've provided you today helps.

And this is the reply by vodafone

    Hi tania.

Vodafone are certainly working on this type of bar as we speak and we're waiting for some definitive answer as to when it's going to be rolled out. I will certainly be using it myself when it arrives!

Please bear with us and we will post here when we know more.

    Thanks

Look like my choice of provider is made once my contract is up. After all vodafone have had long enough to work on this...see first page of thread!
