Gosh I am late with my weekly update, but to be honest, last weekend ended up being a bit of a lost weekend. The short story is that work was very stressful on a Thursday and Friday and I didn't sleep and so took an antihistamine on Saturday night, which meant I overslept on Sunday and spent most of Sunday afternoon asleep on the sofa. It takes me back to when we used to have good nights out on a Saturday nightAnyway, I feel in a better place this week, although the weather is more typical for early summer i.e rubbish.
I did have a surprisingly lovely walk in the rain this morning with pup. We went off the beaten track for a change and I found myself in some very quiet ( possibly private) woodland. As I walked down the path it suddenly opened up and was full lilac rhododendrons in bloom. It was just beautiful, lush drippy woodland and masses of lilac flowers. Unfortunately I then got myself in a bit of a pickle getting back on the beaten track and having to climb over a barbed wire fence and getting caught on the barbed wire fence practically doing the splits. Luckily I managed to unhook myself, without doing too much damage to either my jeans or my dignity ( no one saw
)
A few bits to report financially. £50 spent in the garden centre on plants and grow bags, £90 on a full screen monitor so I don't have to keep hunching over my surface pro ( but I can claim it back) and £100 on a desk for DD ( hoping she can claim it back).We also received £810 interest on our Leeds BS 5 year ISA (2.10%). This felt rubbish at the time but feels quite good now. There is still no sign of the Yorkshire Bank regular saver interest, will need to check when that is due. All interest will be added into our ring fenced savings.
We also received a £100 refund from Admiral on our car insurances. This has boosted our odds and sods account this month.
I think that is all. Enjoy your week x6 -
Ah there you are BM I was wondering where you were .
Sounds like you have had an interesting week . We also received the payout from Admiral for our cars which was an unexpected surprise. Are you still travelling in to work most days ?

Hi Try Harder. I am lucky in that I can work from home, it has just been very busy and long hours. I try and get out for a walk with the pup first thing though and that really helps to set me up for the day. I am really impressed with Admiral for proactively offering refunds they are on my "good company" list.
I've just had my sleazyjet flights to Greece cancelled for the end of June, which will mean another refund.3 -
That is very good ..Three of my children are working from home which I am really pleased about ..
Yes I was really surprised to receive the refunds and have been very pleased with Admiral , they also paid us an extremely good price when one of our cars was written off last year and were very efficient every step of the way .
We too had a holiday booked for the first two weeks in July and the company have written to us to say we will receive a refund but it will take up to 45 days after the date that we would have had our holiday

Quick pop in with some financial news. £100 received from Admiral, £32 refund from HSBC bank charges from 2019 (not a clue how this occurred) and £36.60 from TopCashback. These will all be heading towards the odds and sods account. This means that I am about £100 off having £500 to chip of the mortgage in June.
A bit of a dilemma now. Do I rob another account to make an early payment of £500 to the mortgage ? I think we all know the answer5
