Morning
I've been up since 3.40! But I did go to bed at 7.30 with madam... So don't feel tired at all
Argh I'm in 2 minds about working! I feel ok, except I do feel really tender around my tummy. On the one hand I feel I should rest and a 12 hour shift might be too much but on the other I feel like a fraud. I can't drive until 12.30 so I guess I can make decision as the morning wears on.... super embarrassingI wasn't even due to work
:o:o I'm in tomorrow & Sunday! Wish I'd called yesterday and saved myself a load of agonising!
I made my quilt topper yesterday :j It looks great - in not so mse news I have purchased wadding & backing materials this morningah well, I scrimp and save every day so I can treat myself to something I love! Next quilt must be very frugal! Can't wait for it all to arrive!
Today:
*[STRIKE] do a load of washing & put on the line[/STRIKE] - if I go to work leave instructions for oh to get it in!
[STRIKE]* was supposed to be going out tonight but need to contact bff and say I don't feel up to it[/STRIKE]
*[STRIKE] have made madam's lunch for cm[/STRIKE] - used ys cheese bought for a song, grated and frozen & a ys yogurt (again frozen), last of the apples and some easter chocolate for a treat :money:
* lunch for me is batch made (and rescued from blandness by the help of cumin seeds) BNS soup & lo chicken salad
* Must not spend any money!
[STRIKE]* onepoll if I get time [/STRIKE]- has been very slow for me recently!
* dinner is the veg curry we still haven't eaten! Need to get on and eat it!
*[STRIKE] Mortgage op[/STRIKE] - today is the day! it was :j first payment of £150 done:D:D:D:money:
* change energy suppliers
* watching a couple of items of summer clothes on fleabay for madam
[STRIKE]* sign[/STRIKE] and post off some papers for a car crash I had 1 1/2 yrs ago. Insurance company disputing the costs...
* sorted out a load of paperwork, filed away and binned loads of redundant bits
* listed 3 things on fleabay
* Sorted out kitchen so all sides clear and clean
* submitted another ppi claim - I'd made a mistake on one and hadn't actually sent it off even though they've confirmed I had it...
* emailed a carpenter about a quote for some work we want doing
* sorted out things to give to the school for junk modelling
Ok think that's all. Happy Friday everyoneDF as at 30/12/16

Morning all
Welcome, Mumofthetwins, we like to see new people here
Nice day againDo others feel SO much better when the sun is shining and it isn't cold, foggy, snowy, raining, hailing etc? OH is out till lunchtime, so I decided not to waste the opportunity to get outside. Some things done already
* Checked banks and updated spreadsheet as some of the bills have gone out
* Load of washing out on line
* Tip run with some huge overgrown lavenders and rosemary plants, which were far too big to go in the composters
* Moved rest of firewood logs from the garage at the bottom of the garden to the log store outside the back door. Swept bits off garage floor
* Also cleaned up kitchen and dealt with RM surveys stuff
Still to do:
*Some paperwork for my business (end of tax year stuff) Ended up doing loads of this -less to do later
*Some cooking - I want to make a few veggie things, maybe parsnip soup and an aubergine curry. Got lots of lovely veg from the market yesterday, and I love to base some of our meals around thoseMade aubergine and tomato curry from the BBC Good Food web site, and parsnip soup
Sorted fridge out, had to throw out a bit of leftover gravy and about a tablespoonful of HM coleslaw - not sure how these slipped off my anti food waste radar!
*Plenty of the fajitas stuff I made yesterday left for lunch, and OH is out tonight so I shan't bother with more than just soup or a sandwich for me, I am definitely at no risk whatsoever of dying of starvation :rotfl:Fajitas for lunch, got some of the peppers and onions left over which I will add to something else. I had some of the aubergine curry for dinner, it is seriously yummy!
*Some housework, stairs look messy, as does bathroom floor Not done
*Get spare bedroom ready for little GD to stay tomorrow. As it is on a separate floor from our room, I will sleep up there with her, as she is only 4. Must do this in the morning
Did loads more in the garden, and got carried away with the paperwork, so these will have to carry over to tomorrow.
*Do hip exercises Done
*Remember to check for surveys later Managed one for Ipsos
* No spends planned today :T NSD :j
OK, coffee finished so better get on with something else0 -
Afternoon all :hello:
Working from home so no commute today :j still not really feeling up and at it, but better than yesterday!
I have/will :
Checked banking and updated sheetpaid an overpayment and insurance not used money to loan. We've now paid off 46% in a year of having it :A I really want it gone by this time next year.
Reconciled just for points cc
Something out of freezer for tea
Lunch from fridge raid, last of beetroot and OOD coleslaw to go with a feta and spinach omelette
Go to the gym
See if smalls want to go to town later and spend their book tokens
Go and visit a family member later whose birthday it is. Card from stash
Get dd ready for brownie sleepover tomorrow
Load of washing away, catch up on another
Think that's about all for now. Have a good day everyone. Purps.0 -
Spudsmum- Sourdough bread is made without using yeast. Instead, you use a fermented culture which you keep in a jar & feed regularly with more flour to keep it alive. Is isn't difficult but is definitely more of a faff than baking ordinary bread. We both love sourdough & while we would occasionally buy one from a farm shop, it's artisan bread & the loaves can easily cost £3 or £4 each. So I borrowed a book from the library & learned how to make them myself. I was then gifted a book by a nice friend & picked up more hints & tips. I bake 1 sourdough loaf a week plus an ordinary wholemeal loaf & often a batch of cobs too. We do buy bread sometimes but I enjoy making my own x2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

Hi Friday Frugalistas,
Most of today has been spent thus:
1.Worrying about the dentist.
2.Travelling to dentist
3.Having filling replaced.
4. Travelling home.
But I have cleaned the house with minimal products & washable cloths, updated the grocery budget after mr f's awesome grocery shoppping (£15 under budget) & discovered quite a bit more money in our Paypal account than I thought we had.
Talk to you tomorrow.

Thanks for the welcome spudsmum
Done a Yougov survey, I'm about halfway to £50 pay out but I'll get there, unless I die of boredom beforehand.
Done my usual chivvy of the kids/DH and check around the house to stop them leaving stuff plugged in etc
Cheap dinner of yellow sticker stuff and doing my meal plan for the week ahead soon. We are trying to have meat/fish max of 2-3 times a week, eating cheaper veg/egg/lentil based main meals instead. I've cut our food shopping right down doing this, although a bit challenging at the moment because I'm doing Slimming World. DH will be going to Lidl tomorrow.
Lots of layers so we don't need the heating on.
DH and DD cycled to the shops earlier instead of driving. It a good distance but the weather was dry so if you have the time, makes sense!January grocery challenge £111.35/£4000 -
Foxgloves thanks for that - i wasnt sure if sourdough was easier to make in some way as everyone seems to be doing it. I adore homemade bread but all the proving is quite time consuming so dont manage it as much as i'd like.
This week seems to have flown by but I'm very glad its friday nontheless. Had to endure the torture that is Friday night food shopping. Used the scan and shop thing thinking it would be easier and quicker and got selected for a "quality check" at the end (every single time this happens to me - they say it's random but if so I must be the unluckiest person in the world) anyway her machine says I've not scanned my frozen peas - I know for a fact I did - so they drag all of my shopping out onto the bench and rescan the lot while talking to me like I'm some kind of master criminal - talk about embarassing! (I'm really glad I didnt buy the tena lady's i was looking at as everyone was having a good old nosy at me and my stuff as they walked past) After all of that the total was exactly the same as before so I obviously DID scan everything and their machine is faulty. So all of that faff and nonsense was for nowt - tempted to complain because its stressful enough shopping with all the kids without going through that.
Anyhow onto the small things:
:A no heating on again
:A surveys done
:A huge pork joint in the slow cooker all day - should make 6-7 batches of pulled pork
:A emptied purse and was £48.98 under budget last week - will split between debts and other pots
:A food shopping was £54.98 - a massive £15.02 under budget would have been even less but got some ys bargains
:A bought ys bagels 10p and oven chips 50p and huge rotisserie chicken down from £6.50 to £2 which will last most of weekend.
:A t@sco were selling off easter stuff - a 5 pack of creme eggs was 80p so I bought 6 lots as we all love them.
:A also bought nephew's easter eggs as we havent seen him over easter and wont until next week
:A got free mikado chocolate sticks via cashback app
:A £3.60 cashed out from surveys - to debt jar
:A £3 amazon voucher from survey site
:A £20 for dog sitting
:A another £35 paid off MBNA - thats £66 since Tuesday :j:j
Think thats it - hoping this online banking key arrives tomorrow - thats two weeks now without access to our joint account and DH's wages - i really dont understand whats taking them so long.Total debts £21050! now £10941. 76. Total extra income made in Jan22 £109. 27 Feb 22 £45.25 Total extra income made in 2022 £154.52 Aiming for debt free at 45 - 41 months to go!0
