Today I was contacted by HR and my 4 day a week is now agreed ON A PERMANENT BASIS and I only have to go into the office 2 of those 4 days. SO HAPPY.
I don’t mind the decrease in income. I don’t mind that I won’t be able to do as much on the house or do it as quickly. Thanks to this community here I have acquired the skills in frugality I need to manage with less money.
Thanks to everyone for listening to my moaning and supporting me :TIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

well done - that's the hard bit!!
now you just need to make sure they don't mess you around with your day off. I don't know what your work entails, but if there's a chance of colleagues not realising they cant book you on your day off then be very clear right from the beginning when you are and are not availableI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Thanks everyone for the positive posts
I still can't quite believe it, but I have it writing now. I am due to start in September although I am off Thursdays in August as I used some holiday dates to make my return to work easier.
And never fear Mark88said I have no intention of being paid for a 4 day week and working a 5 day week. As a team we are already a mixture of full-time and part time staff and the work is geared to this working successfully .
Today I have drudge to do but then I will be away in my little car. I will be grouping my activities in one area to:
Go to the National Trust park for a stroll (parking the car for free for 5 hours)
Check out a free Spanish class that meets on Thursdays.
Fruit and veg from discount supermarket
Coffee in a lovely independent cafe and read for a bit (my favourite thing)
Clear boot of CS goodies at CS
I feel like the way I wanted to live (when I had debt and a mortgage and couldn't afford to do essential repairs) is beginning to take shape bit by bitIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them
