How infuriating about the electrician! Can you phone the original person and let them know that you're unhappy with the efficiency of the tradesman at your house, as well as unimpressed by the frequent 'popping out that he did. I hope you weren't being charged for the time that he was popping out to get things.

Hope you got through it ok. Take a deep breath and try to relax away the irritation.

Have you considered that you're not ready to go back to work yet? Of course I'm not qualified to say whether you are or are not, but if you don't feel 100% then please see your doctor again and discuss how you are feeling. Don't go back before you are ready.

    Thanks everyone :A

Homegrown0 and Beanie you have a point about work but I don't want to be away too long as that too is stressful in a different way. I am only back at work for 2 days and I am booking one day off a week for the whole of August, giving myself a 4 day week and I am 'on duty' in the afternoons instead of mornings for a few months. In addition I am WFH 3 days a week. It is as 'easy' as it can be for me. I think I will be okay. I seem to have recovered from my stressful day quite quickly and could feel myself relax this evening :)

The electrician fiasco is behind me. HomegrownO I'm just going to draw a line under it. The wiring is done and I learnt a lesson. I don't have the energy to use trying to right this wrong.

Rosa thanks for giving me permission not to always be positive.

Even if the actual experience was pants you still can feel very proud and happy that you negotiated the price down and did get it done! I hope returning to work will go well.

Also ditto what Rosa said :o

I haven't got round to reading all this new diary yet but I will catch up eventually.

Yet another fresh start for me, when will I learn.

    Take care.

Thanks Lonelyrat. I am proud of getting the important work done. However, I negotiated extra work for the same price and in the end the electrician squandered my time so could not do any of the additional jobs. :(

Thanks Homegrown0 I wish I lived closer too but it helps to know there are good tradesmen out there. Restores my faith.

Hello Tink Great to see you here. I recently had a visit from Orange Ena and Muffintops nice to see old faces and catch up on how they are. I will visit your diary too :)

Today I went back to work and it was fine. I have issues with work sometimes and my role is demanding but I am grateful for my job, the support and the flexibility I have. Without my job I would not be able to do the things I need to do on my house so I need it for now.

Lately I have been listening to podcasts by aslobcomeclean.com and she has been talking about time management and how she schedules appointments. She doesn’t agree to do things on just any day. I do, and there is often a cost either in terms of time, money, or stress and sometimes all three.

I am too random in my appointments but I am going to start wising up by:

Grouping my activities in one area (If I am there anyway, is there something else I can do on my list whilst in the area?) I should not be wasting my time (travelling backwards and forwards) or my money (on travel).

If there is a ‘free’ event that costs £8 in fares, drinks for my host £10 and 2 hours travel time. Is it really free in terms of time and money. How much do I want to go?

Rather than aiming for one stay at home day, I am going to aim for 2 days a week where I stay local. I am going to keep to set days for now. Unscheduled time helps me feel less stressed :)

I hope you all had good days too :)

No Abba1772, I only negotiated for any extra work to be done in the additional time but electrician stretched work so there was no additional work. It is not right but it is okay and chalking it up to experience and putting it behind me :)
