DIA, not meaning to nag but concerned you mention not having the car taxed - it has all changed recently and the dealer wouldn't let me leave with the van until I had done it online, you can't do it in someone else's name any more. Please check up on it.

Thanks Rosa. It's good to know people on here care enough to post this kind of comment :)
I checked the rules before buying the car and all is fine. We had temporary arrangements so I could get the car back and have a few days driving too :) The car is currently off road until I can do the sorting out of care related paraphernalia. This will change this week when we will be back on the road.

    Yesterday I had 3 goals and I scored a zero. :(

I was tired so spent all day dozing, not even doing the washing up. Trying not to be hard on myself as I am quick to label myself lazy when in the past I have realised looking back it was my body fighting a health issue. For example hormonal or iron levels.

I forced myself to get to the theatre and glad I did as it was a lovely treat.

All the excessive social running around has calmed down now July is here, so just back to normal busy again.

Today will be a NSD and yesterday was LSD (fares and ice creams during the interval)

I seem to have made a subtle shift with eating and drinking. I had an ice-cream during the interval and only ate half as I’d had sufficient. I drank less than half of a small glass of wine as again, I felt I’d had enough. I’m finding I am less hungry when I reduce carbs. ;)

Today I am covering at work so will be busy all day again but at least I am WFH ;)

    Happy Sunday :)

I’ve been so active today: washing, sorting out the house, ironing, washing up. I even did the cedar balls for storing clothes :D

I called squirrel man to remove his equipment.

Rosa prompted me to sort out car administration. I hate that side of things and was beginning to panic. Then I thought, I have to do it. I have the car now and I can spend all week working myself into a state or I can do it today and be in a state for a day instead.

I chose to get it over with. I figured it could not be worse than driving 300 miles alone (my new benchmark for everything). I stuck rescue rem on my tongue, burnt frankincense oil and got on with it ;)

I had visions of shlepping to the PO to get the car tax but it was so simple online. The insurance was harder work but I spent my lunch hour searching. I compared and haggled (a bit).

So, now I have both tax and insurance, both paid in one annual payment

I can now start to drive in the morning starting with getting petrol and a trip to Ald1 :)

So, lots of NSDs for me as funds are now VERY low indeed  but this way I keep my monthly salary just save a pro rata amount to a new savings account yet to be opened imaginatively called car ;)

I hope you are all enjoying your Sundays :)

    Well done you :T:T

It is much easier than before and also it gets easier for next year as you will have a renewal quote and your info already in the search engine.

I'm taking inspiration from you and burning some lovely frankincense incense in an attempt to make myself get on with my last written assignment. I already have most of it outlined (something of a first for me :rotfl:) but it will be nicer if I can stop guilt free to listen to a favourite podcast later, and not have to give up a lot of tomorrow evening too.

Hello MSE folk, another active day for me :)

    Little frogs eaten today
Put petrol in the car by myself.
Drove in and out of an underground car park (hate them)
Found Ald1 and how to get into said car park from one way system
Returned shoes and a dress and got a refund. £110 back in the kitty :money:
All quilts aired and vacuum packed and pillows washed

    Today
Shopping in Ald1 is so much cheaper than my online shop. Astounding really. I buy canned butterbeans usually 85p but in Ald1 33p. The toilet tissue is great and I got 24 rolls for £5.29 when I usually pay £4 odd for 9 rolls.

Being on the road with 0 years no claim bonus is pricey but it will get better and shopping at Ald1 will save me money for a start. My last gym payment is in August :j (NEVER AGAIN) and that will be a big saving too. I am saving on travel too with increased WFH. If nothing major goes wrong with the car it should balance out more or less. ;)

Today I wanted to go YS shopping but that is in a place with no parking and taking the train would have cost £5 so I did not go. If I am not at work and already have a travel pass paid for, the options are now driving or walking.;)

I can see the Swedish store is open until 10pm so will drive there tomorrow late evening when there is no traffic. I have some curtains to return.;)

No house renovation progress but I only had 1 day off this week and I can’t do everything. That said, I can’t slacken off :o

I hope you all had a good Monday :)

I am grateful to own my house. :)
It is currently a home that needs LOTS of basic maintenance and a bathroom and a kitchen! (I haven’t had an oven or a shower for 10 years) All very expensive and so I don’t have much more money for discretionary spending than when I was paying a mortgage. The house has seen better days (as have I) but now I am DF and MF I am taking steps to improve it. In the long run I will be better off and more secure as I age. I would rather struggle now whilst I have energy than later, when I might not.

I am grateful for my car. :)
Having a car is far from stress free and it is a bit of a luxury but it is already opening things up a little.

An example? The £70 recycling green waste bin is going as I can drive to the centre once a month where I will also visit the Swedish store. The money saved will pay for my new NT membership £69. I can use the very beautiful but awkward to get to NT home, park for free for 5 hours and walk somewhere beautiful when I have some free time :)

I am grateful for my friends. :)
I have some lovely friends and over the past week they have treated me to wonderful things and made me feel valued and appreciated.
