I:beer:Hi! Wondered if anyone knew of a free android tablet app I can use from home on my WiFi but WON'T eat into the recipients data allowance or mean they have to have WiFi too, or load the same app as me?
Useful when my smartphone is needing to be charged (battery goes down fast....really need a new battery!), don't at all need video calling.
Had a look on line....tbh very, very confusing. Android system is old is oldish.....4.1 or something called KitKat if that helps. Thanks kind people!:j

What you describe doesn't exist. Phone calls cost money, nobody is going to let you make them for free.
If you want free calling it'll have to be app-to-app.0 -
yes you can make both land line and mobile calls free as long as you use Google Home or Google Home Mini

For free UK landline calls I use
https://www.tescointernationalcalling.com/calling-app/
Well, free if you top up with £3 and stay in credit.
There may be a £1 free credit signing up bonus, that got me free UK landline calls for some months.
App is less than perfect, hasn’t been updated for yonks, calls can be a bit low volume and prone to occasionally disconnecting. International and mobile calls exceptionally cheap.0 -
Heyjohn1 (& others who've helped!).....tried the home/voce and also hangouts.....could not get it to work. My small group of friends are...ahem...51 & 52 and completely scared of tech.....so whilst the SIMPLEST solution would be them all installing same app as me I've not a cat in hells chance. With BT mobile.....have landline (never used)....& BT have an app for you to use your minutes via WiFi free....fine for my friends but if I had to call an unknown number would be worried it would go on a database etc.....spouse I could 141 it ?
Thanks all for your help so far!0 -
Not checked this but are Google Home (Android) calls free (perhaps only for a limited time?)

Get a new battery or a charging case for the phone to extend current battery longevity.
You could have had either delivered in the amount of time this thread has run...;)Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

Hi rumrat! Somewhere in my messy house I DO have a new battery! What do you think the life would be like.....hardly any songs/videos/gaming......mainly surfing/e-mail but would use the Samsung mini s3 if out & about, or if g/f is using other systems. Will Google the charging cases....never heard of those!0

You should get a full day with the usage you describe.
Charging case from ebay.......Link below.
