Do you have two loos? Save massive amounts of water

I understand the point of reducing the amount of times we flusha nd the amount of water we flush with my putting a brick or crystal bag (being given away free by severn trent) in the cistern but what's the point of the rocks in the pan? Am i being thick or is that just aesthetically pleasing?
Sorry, I don't understand the rocks in the pan either.0 -

The rocks in the pan mean there is less liquid in the pan, therefore it will take less liquid from the cistern to flush it way.
This allows you to put more "rocks" in the cistern meaning you use less water with each flush.0 -
Good idea in principle, but the reason we had a second loo installed in the first place it that with a family of seven we quite often need #2s simultaneously, especially after that first morning cuppa!0
