London ULEZ

I have just been told that from April next year, i will have to pay £12 a day to drive to and from work in my 2010 range rover as i live inside the south and north circular roads. The charge covers a 24 hour period. Did some research today and it looks like i either pay and carry on driving my range which i will not do, or sell it and buy another car, which of course i also do not want to do. Then i came across the exempted vehicles.
I am an ex farmer, so from what i read, a tractor is exempt, so i could go and buy a big four wheel drive tractor, which throws out lots of black smoke and use that for my inner london travelling. A positive thing about having a tractor is that nobody is going to argue with me on the road.
Can anyone confirm that i could use a tractor instead of my range and exempt from ULEZ?

Is this a real question, or the result of an overactive imagination?
Diesel or Petrol? Engine size? If it's a 3.0 TDV6, you are the target of legislation intended to protect the residents of Greater London from the crap your engine kicks out as you motor through all the tailbacks in and out of the place. Buy something greener.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

And, just to highlight...
Priceless.i live inside the south and north circular roads.
Can anyone confirm that i could use a tractor ... exempt from ULEZ?
Robisere - if it was petrol, it'd be exempt from the ULEZ, because it only applies to pre-Euro6 (c.2014) diesels or pre-Euro4 (c.2005) petrols. So, yes, the OP is exactly the intended target... I'd be quite intrigued to see how he intends to cope with obtaining parking permits or spaces for a large tractor in inner London, and that's before we go near the fact that the total costs are likely to be considerably higher...
You'd think an ex-farmer would understand and appreciate the difference between London air and clean air, wouldn't you?0 -
Why not get an old tank? Many of them are mot and tax exempt too. Parking is a doddle, just park on top of someone else.0

I look forward to seeing a future edition of "Police Interceptors" (or similar) featuring several Police vehicles attempting to stop a tractor.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

A stinger's going to be fairly useless.0 -
A baracuda will do it.0 -
Possibly. Wouldn't a ulez compliant car be more sensible? Does anyone need four wheel drive on their commute around London? Can anyone confirm that i could use a tractor instead of my range and exempt from ULEZ?0 -
Make sure your tractor isn't running on red diesel!I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

Do you live inside the ULEZ? If so, there will be a grace period for you until april 2022.
If you live outside of the zone but work inside it....isn't public transport, cycling or car share an option? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

There's always something bigger than you and in this case it would be lorries and buses.I look forward to seeing a future edition of "Police Interceptors" (or similar) featuring several Police vehicles attempting to stop a tractor.
