Vacuum cleaner recommendations?

Hi...
Looks as though our old Miele Cats & Dogs vacuum cleaner has had it. It was a good hoover, and we've had it many years. I'm considering Dyson - but would be interested in hearing which makes forum members would recommend. Posted this on the pet forum as would like something that is good for pet hair (cat). Thanks!

  • We have had the Shark True Pet (I think that is the name of it) for just over 12 months now and it is great.

It is corded which I know not everyone likes these days, but the cord is generously long so it goes from room to room no problem, it picks up pet hair really well and is lightweight, oh and it comes with a whole bunch of tools too.

The only downside for us is that the "bin" is quite small, so if you are picking up pet hair (like we do :) ) you will need to empty it quite often but it is a small price to pay for a great vacuum.

Have a Dyson but one of the older ones. When ours gave up after many years of faithful service we bought a reconditioned model or an older model.

It is better than my other one was.

An EU ruling has reduced the power of new vacuums. That is why we went for an older one.

I!!!8217;ve also got a Shark, not a cordless one.....it works a treat and I have a very long haired dog and vacuum every day.
  • The Miele bagless one. With the extra brush attachment if you have carpets.

Sebo X4 Pet. Brilliant, picks up all those fine strands of fur. Expensive but worth it. Has lots of super filters which do make a difference. (My folks have a basic Sebo, it's got to be nearly 20 yrs old.)

Don't bother with the Dyson Animal (V6 I think) as it is a piece of very expensive tat. When it does work - the plastic bin fills up very quickly and when emptied tends to coat you from head to foot in carp. It continually clogs up and stops working which entails cleaning every flipping filter and orifice with various implements from your cutlery drawer. Considering I do not even have any animals actually in my house, apart from spiders, it is next to useless. I do tend to shed a few bits of hay or straw from my clothes after feeding my outdoor animals but it doesn't even pick those up. You have been warned!!!

Got a dyson v7 and it's been doing great so far. We have 2 fur babies and it's been the reason why we had to get a new hoover.

I trust in true money saving fashion, you have replaced cleaned the filters?
My neighbour had thrown out a Dyson , I asked if I could have it (it was left out for the scrap men) , one replacement filter and a wash of the washable filter, plus a replacement broken hose all in £7 and the vacuum was good to go again.
My original DC01 is still going strong.
Before that I had an Electrolux, was selling it as it had stopped sucking, only to find that the filter had turned to paper mache, removed that and it was all good.
