Nelski, your book club meal sounds lovely, wish I could pop round.

Our book club meets in the library, so no meals or Prosecco, it's only tea, coffee or water.
We start off talking about the book, but the conversation soon turns general, and it's a wonder we don't get asked to leave the library sometimes, with our talking and laughter!!

Weve been out to get some last minute things for the van and testing the utes limits in the snow. Grump said it was good in the snow ..... I was finding all sorts of excuses as not to go tomorrow but unfortunately the snow being a problem i have to tick off the list. The motor is as good in snow as it is off road. We went up some steep hills covered in snow and ice and the motor performed brilliantly and it was great fun too.

Phone call from my GP. I'm due a blood test. It can wait until next week sometime.

Ive come home, the tea is in the oven and im wading though the weekend laundry.

Grump is emptying the motor and washing it. Its filthy. Its going to take him some time.

Dumpling good to hear from you.

    Sending virtual hug to Holly.

The snow seems to be melting round here and I would have liked to go for a walk outside but someone is supposed to come today to look at the tumble drier. I did not like to have anything electrical going in case things had to be turned off suddenly so have not got anything done today.

I have loads of laundry to do but wanted to wait till the tumble drier got fixed and still have not had a phone call to see the engineer was on the way. Grrh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have plenty of lamb stew I made yesterday unless I fancy a pork loin steak instead but can't decide what to cook unless I know when repair person is coming or even if they will turn up. Sods law that if I pop out for ten minutes I will miss a call.
  • We have sunshine as well AOD. Most welcome after all the snow and bitter winds blowing. Still a bit of wind around but not blowing quite as ferociously!

DS called in this morning with some toiletry bits for us (he gets them cheapo at work as some have lost their labels or skew-whiff labels) He gave us a lift into town for Mr TA's haircut and I had a wander round M & S and the food hall to kill the time. We met up after for a coffee and cake and what lovely cake it was! Rhubarb and Rosehip, never had that before. We got a table in the window with the sun streaming in. It felt really warm through the glass and if it wasn't for all the snow on the hills we could have imagined it was summer!

I finally got through to Urology and Mr TA's op date hasn't been overlooked or lost in the post. He is still on the list on the Consultant's desk. He will need another pre-op I should imagine by the time he gets a date!

CAMELOT and RR your weekends sounded wonderful.

Still dithering over the Pro King! If it's a bit complicated to use it would just end up in a cupboard with the other unused gadgets!

Enjoy the rest of your day if you can folks xx

Am I the only one who doesn't know what a pro king is? I'll have to Google it.
Nope, I hadn't a scooby, either. I just had a quick google, and my feeling is a) I've nowhere to put yet another big piece of kit, and b) it wouldn't be a great deal of help to a [STRIKE]PITA[/STRIKE] vegetarian like me (:p @ Nels ).

We've had bright blue Californian skies here all day, bitterly cold still but the cloudless horizon makes up for it. I've got my front door open still. Probably won't last much longer.

Work was good this morning, students behaved themselves and engaged with the work. I came home to a clean and tidy place, always a pleasure.

My DM has been prescribed 12 week physio sessions to teach her how to get up from the floor if she collapses again. Thank goodness! No doubt it'll be tough to start with but I'm sure she'll master it in the end.

I'd be interested to know what these sessions entail - at present, if I take a fall, I crawl across the floor to a piece of furniture I can use to scramble up.

    Afternoon all,

We had another 4 inches of snow yesterday, but it began to melt as it fell in the afternoon, water came back so we were all happy, still very cold and windy, will be happy when DD3, DSIL and DGD7 are back, it is almost a 4 hour drive and the roads will be busy after a long weekend.

DD1 is driving to the funeral tomorrow, OH's sister is coming with us and will spend her time thanking us for bringing her.......she drives but has always been very nervous and won't drive more than about 10 miles from home, can never understand people like that as most accidents happen near to home anyway!

Ruby and Camelot, glad to hear that you both had a great weekend.

We had no waste bin collection during the bad snow storm, so have been gathering up everything we can, as company said that would collect bags as well as bin tomorrow. I am horrified at the amount of rubbish we generate since the house filled up.....really need to sort everyone out to cut down on what they bin.

We are having chicken, beans and potatoes for dinner, there are cupcakes and cookies if anybody wants pudding.

Have almost finished sweaters and blanket for OH's greatnephew in Wales.....might post them if his grandfather is not travelling for a couple of weeks as not sure how big I have made them.

    Love to Holly.

Take care everybody and stay out of the cold as much as possible.

No sooner had I complained about waiting for a repairman than a van pulled up. The tumble drier is now working and a big load of towels are in the washing machine. There is now a queue for the washing machine which will get sorted out tonight and I want to put special cleaner in the washing machine and dishwasher later.

Had a CBA moment and just had a ready meal (don't tell dds).

    AOD

I have managed to suss out a few of the functions in the last few days and must admit that releasing the pressure valve when it has finished cooking is quite an adventure. The plume of steam is like a volcano!!! It does a lovely job of stews and bolognese which is all I have tried so far.

I used to use an old fashioned pressure cooker but didn't bring it on the boat as the hob isn't big enough. I can't have a pro king as I don't think my solar would run it.
When my kids were young I cooked all sorts in the pressure cooker and I blew the weight off it a couple of times, covered the ceiling in minestrone soup, great fun.
    Chin up, Titus out.
