Sorry taff it was just my bizarre, sick and very individualistic sense of humour.

Except it is far from funny. Did you see anyone laughing? Perhaps you could keep your "sense of humour" to youself in the future when a new OP is asking a perfectly sensible question that is obviously quite a serious matter to them. I'm all for sense of humour but it has a place and this wasn't it IMHO.

Serious matter? Behave... If you want to talk about serious matters chipping on the cost of rent would not be in my current top 100. Your lack of people skills, personality or humour however is definitely a matter that needs addressing.

If you can't read properly, go to learndirect, they offer reading courses - I said " a serious matter to them". It might be a laughing matter to you but obviously not to them or they wouldn't have posted the question would they, so I would suggest it was in their top 100? Perhaps you would like to call the OP a complete idiot/simpleton? You obviously lack any sensitivity or tact and and are unable to empathise with others. Reporting a new OP for spam is hardly funny or maybe I've suddenly had a complete sense of humour bypass and don't know it. I'm quite happy with my level of people skills and personality but thanks for asking anyway. :D

Ok, good to know. I remember asking in an art gallery if the price of a painting I wanted was negotiable, and the gentleman took me aside and told me quietly that 'one didn't haggle like a souk vendor when one was purchasing art' - I was mortified! Just wanted to make sure that I wasn't going to get another telling off.

    Many thanks,
    Lips

Love it...and I can imagine the voice he said it in. Not sure that's always true about art, but its a great negotiating ploy!

A big thanks to you all for the advice previously - I have just managed to conclude a rental deal that I'm delighted with, knocking price down from £850/month to £725. The landlord seems satisfied with that too, so good all round.

Here's a round of applause for you all...

Delighted for you Lips, that's a hefty reduction in the price. Well done!
