nmlc thank you for starting us off.
camelot many happy returns of the day.
LameWolf pleased that you were able to get out and about with Lizzie even if it was perishing cold.
dp1 I hope that your DD is making a good recovery.
Nelski thank you for the update on Holly. Holly thinking of you.
snoozer pleased that you are enjoying your break.
meanmarie I do hope that your water supply is fixed very soon.
TA your daughter is a star, I do hope that someone can take her home. Fingers crossed that the coach arrived.
whiteguineapig and Jackie I would love a Pressure KingPro, but would need to see how much space one would take up, I have read the dimensions, but cannot envisage storage or space on my very limited worktops. OH would have a fit, but don't need to think about that, would have to wait until he has bought yet another bicycle frame:rotfl:

Woke to about 4" of snow, not going anywhere today, OH took the furry one out, fed the birds for me and checked the caravan over, he has promised to help me make a batch of Mamade for him today (not good with heavy hot pans anymore and he seems to like filling the jars as long as I do the sterilising, the endless stirring and the cleaning up LOL). It works out well as it means I can still do some of the domestic stuff I love with help. (Wish I was more keen on the scrubbage though, great word AOD.
Pork for pulled pork in the SC need to sort what veg/spuds to have with it later, made OH a plum crumble yesterday so his pud is sorted.

Keep warm and safe everyone, hugs and spoons as needed.

Gers and Poppy when my dad died and I went to hand back his house keys and end the tenancy i was told by the very horrible girl on the desk I needed to give 4 weeks notice! I said but he’s dead and she said doesn’t matter still have to give notice! Then a supervisor heard and came over and sorted it out.

Just want to make it clear that my DM is not dead! The problem was that when told the insurance agent that they held my POA document she thought my DM was dead. She obviously didn't know what a POA is for and that it ceases on death. Thankfully she soon cottoned on.

When my DF died we did have some trouble with council bods, especially when I was sent an invoice for 4p council tax because he died on 02 April. Sheer rage won that argument!

I've taken a whole load of rubbish to the tip and the recycling too. I cooked some chicken thighs and chorizo so the house smells really lovely. There's cauliflower cheese to go with it later.

The last couple of hours have been spent doing yet more scanning of documents. Seems that every day I get an avalanche of paperwork which I don't deal with instantly. Now that it's all scanned I need to move them into the correct folders, that doesn't happen often enough.

Still no snow here other than a very brief very weak fluttering of one or two flakes now and then. Other areas are not so lucky.

Snoozer - your day sounds fabulous!

Gers when my DM passed she did it with the convenience of dying on Sunday 31st, thus sorting her rental, council tax & water bills and personal & state pensions nice & tidily :)

    Very glad to hear it.

Had to dig ourselves out of the house earlier due to drifting snow....Tried so hard to talk Grump out of going to the van on Tuesday but he's having none of it.

Many happy returns of the day Camelot :bdaycake:
  • Just wanted to wish a very belated Happy Birthday to the birthday girls!

I am currently skulking in the bathroom with a hair dye on - not a pretty sight! But in 20 mins I shall be skunk no more as my grey roots will be concealed once more! Two of my friends have let their colours grow out and given in gracefully to grey/white hair but I am not brave enough yet!

We had a remission from the snow this afternoon and a thaw started. But I now see flurries and the forecast is for heavy snow till midnight. Haven't we had enough!!!! DD got a lift back into town after work and then the bus up here but now she is worrying about tomorrow morning's conditions if the heavy snow puts us back to square one again! She is wondering whether to try and get her car up to the top of her hill giving her a chance to get down the hill (which is the main road) into town in the morning.

Have a nice evening folks and dp1 I hope your DD is feeling better. xx

My Mom died on April 1st (no joke). The fees for her stay went up that very day. My brother cleared her room out within two hours of her body being taken away just in case they charged her estate for the week, as he was the sole beneficiary of her estate.

  • Hi everyone,

We had snow yesterday which settled at about half an inch. Starting thawing this a.m. but starting snowing again about 3 hrs ago & has just stopped:( Just that really small, light snow that eventually settles everywhere:) and looks like someone has gone mad with the icing sugar - trees, bushes, the ground etc all have a light dusting. It looks very pretty but it won’t be the snow causing problems it will be the cold - it is bitter!

nmlc thanks for starting us off & enjoy the new to you car :T

camelot hope you are having a great birthday :bdaycake:

meanmarie I hope that you have your water supply back.

maddiemay, why do they make kitchens (& bathrooms) so small? When I had the new kitchen fitted a few years ago I sacrificed a bit of work surface so I could have a double oven, warming drawer & baking/roasting tins deep drawer. The microwave had to go & the only item that stays out is the kettle. The toaster & my mixer are in cupboards. I don’t have enough space for a slow cooker (which I would quite like) as I love looking at a clear work surface :rotfl: & no longer have space in any cupboard to hide it when not in use. Oh well, you pays your money & makes your choice :rotfl:

Gers, poppy & cliffsgirl - whatever happened to common sense? 1984 & Brave New World have proved prescient. :o

Nelski, thanks for keeping us in the loop about Holly. Glad she is allowed to have visitors two days in a row :) but if the doctors etc don’t know what they are doing then how can Holly get stabilised? I have to agree with Deleted_User, Holly’s treatment has been barbaric

I have been rather lazy this w.e. But decided to sort out the alcohol & drinking glasses sections of the wall unit :o This area of the wall unit has been scrubbed clean inside & out & I am currently washing glasses & allocating quite a few to go to the cs :)
DH has been watching the MotoGP races so will start working again tomorrow.

Dinner will be hm soup & hm cheese & bacon scones which came out of the freezer.

    See you all tomorrow.

It's a bit late in the day, but Happy Birthday Camelot - hope it's been a good one.
