I feel I've missed the boat on FIRE what with nearly at retirement age and all - makes me mad really how I've wasted money over the years. I didn't have a lot of disposable income when I was first married (young) but even if I had started with saving 5% of net income..... Ah well, coulda, woulda, shoulda..............:(Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

I do too in some ways SSG and that was the reaction of my OH when he read the article....but some of the stories about getting shot of a substantial mortgage in 6 years say are worth a look. Tilly is an example of our own threads. I think it is better to start late than not at all...
Thanks for stopping by all xx0 -

I do agree with regard to you and OH as I think you have time enough to make an impact if you are careful about your outgoings. It reminds me of the Dave Ramsey financial system - one of his favourite quotes is " Live like no-one else now so that in time you can live like no-one else!" Makes quite a bit of sense!:)brizzlegirl wrote: »Hi EE and Greent...how are you doing? I do subscribe to the Times online but it is effectively tax free as I use it for work. I've recently been taking advantage of the Odeon cinema ticket offer with my subscription for my trips with my friend. Once we take off the senior discount works out at £5 per ticket!:j Shame I'm not retired yet - if I went on a Tuesday daytime I'd get free coffee and biscuits as well!:DFinally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Hi SeasideGirl, I started my diary in 2011, from memory, and believe me, START now. You can achieve so much.
We did everything possible to increase our disposable income. I and my husband have very good salaries which is a great start but that didn’t stop me renting a bedroom, doing surveys, shop and scan, PC. Stopping the spending on eating out and stuff which really was not important.
It really is about counting the pennies and focussing. Menu plan, keep the Tilly Tidies going. Mr T is 50 shortly and we are actively planning our future in Portugal. We would not have been able to do that had I not have found this eclectic, fantastic, supportive MFW community.
Best wishes Tilly

Hi Tilly  good to see you. Hope alls well with you and the family.
Sitting in bed. Absolutely cream crackered. Hit the wall. Did a day of work today..OH is still working...but I have now crashed. Thank goodness am formally off work next week. I will do some, but not much.
Quiet day. Girls very busy socially which feels a tad exhausting running them around, but all good. Hopefully a few nights of good sleep will put me right.
Wish the weather was better, no pegging out for me!!
Have a great Easter everyone xx0 -
Take care Brizzle xxx

I've been rubbish at saving over the years, should've had a lot more saved by now. On paper I can save X amount but it never works out that way. Now not helped by Mr SA not working for 5 years. Still, it's never too late...
Have a fab Easter BrizzleI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0
