Yes, the holy grail of balance. How many years until the pesky mortgage is gone Lou? Spoke to OH and he said lets go for it. Next year no holidays... hmm. His enthusiasm was worryingBut something to think so...

Quiet voice...That is excellent Lou..keep on plodding
Louder voiceGood idea PWPS, but I wonder if OH is serious...and it is so tempting to have a project together....but we shall see. Will broach the subject later. He hates the idea of debt but likes treats...not always a good combination!
MFM..my method is to add up all the categories in YNAB that are not spends so yes I exclude pensions, ISA, (currently debt repayments) and EF. This month we drew a lot of income but even so I was pleased at basically only spending 3/4 of our months income. I am not sure why you would only count quote spare quote money...maybe it is because we subscribe to the YNAB every penny has a purpose concept. If you are putting money into savings pots that are true savings post, rather than say for the insurance or Xmas (when you know you are going to raid them) I think that counts towards a savings rate. Hope that makes sense. When we are clear of these last two cards I will put everything into paying off the £4K OD, the EF, pension and ISA. Cannae wait0 -

Whoop! That's now under a month until you are card-debt-free! :j - gotta be worth a tiny bit of financial pain (as in less spending) this month, surely?

Wow, two years! That's amazing. I'd be aiming for that, but just take a month off here and there if it got too much."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0

Thanks guys...yes itd mean living like Mrs FW or some of the other ultras out there to shift the mortgage in 2 years....but he mentioned it again this morning so have my thinking cap on. We have the ability to overpay by 10% p.a on the mortgage and also can obviously build up more elsewhere, ready to push across when the fixed deal is over (or bite the bullet and pay the early redemption fees). I guess we could also work to be MF in principle if we had the money to pay it off sitting in a savings account. Hmm...lots to think about. . Would be nice to have a project for the summer
. Only thing tho, as I mentioned in the first post is that we need to decide what to do about the car in the summer and I have the OD still. But even so, Operations EF and Mortgage OP could proceed at pace, alongside.
S&S ISA and pension not looking quite as healthy this month, but to be expected. Lots of local and global uncertainty at the moment and I have started dabbling in shares as well as funds so have to be prepared to get it wrong! (Sometimes)
And...I am getting ahead of myself..we havent paid off the last two cards (quite) yet
I also need to sort out my business development head again...it ebbs and flows0 -

Yes. I like that Lou. A 3 Year Plan. Would also coincide with DD2 moving on..maybe uni, maybe something else, but she wont be at school. Who knows and so itd be a good time to have some mortgage freedom.
My sig says 2022 but we could beat that if incomes stay the same and we get our spends RIGHT down.0
