Tesco Internet Saver

I have a single account with Tesco - the same Internet Saver that so many on here have due to the half decent interest it pays for an easy access account.
Alarmingly today I have had an email from Tesco informing me that the account I hold is in fact an ISA - which would be fine except that I wasn't aware of this (Can't remember being asked any of the usual questions when I opened it nor can I remember Martin flagging it when he mentioned it, which is unusual) and so I've had my normal ISA running as well, and in the course of the year have actively paid into both.
Anyone else had anything like this and is also taken by surprise by it?
And does anyone know what problems having 2 x cash ISA's in a year causes - I am well aware that you're not allowed to, and I've certainly not intended to find myself in this position! (And MrEH will be the same it's just occurred to me as the T's account is a joint one, and we BOTH have our own individual ISAs too! Aargh!)
I'll give Tesco a call tomorrow once I've been through the paperwork, but it seems unlikely that I am the only one who can be in this position, hence thinking I'd ask here too.

I had an email too. I think they are just offering their services if you want a Tesco ISA.How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0

This is just a technical error/computer error with Tesco Bank - I've had the same email as has another family member; neither of us have an ISA with Tesco Bank.:grouphug:

Same here. They've either pulled the wrong details from their marketing database, or really poorly worded their email.
I'm sure someone will be along soon to suggest compensation0 -
Just re-read it...and it's very misleading. I'm pretty sure it was NEVER an ISA.How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0

If this is the measure of their robust systems.. then I hope no current account users have their DD,s cancelled instead of their internet saver DD,s on 22nd April!!How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0

Nope - it starts out by saying "As one of our savings customers with an ISA account..."This is just a technical error/computer error with Tesco Bank - I've had the same email as has another family member; neither of us have an ISA with Tesco Bank.
I was wondering whether that was a possibility - they'd best be a bit speedy correcting it then!verybigchris wrote: »Same here. They've either pulled the wrong details from their marketing database, or really poorly worded their email.

Not sure why the suggestion that I'm looking for compensation - I've not mentioned nor even thought about it! It's not poor wording - the email is explicitly clear in the opening statement, so hopefully it has just been sent to the wrong section of the database.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

We're absolutely certain - I might sometimes be a bit slapdash about reading fine print and T's & C's but MrEH most definitely isn't!If this is the measure of their robust systems.. then I hope no current account users have their DD,s cancelled instead of their internet saver DD,s on 22nd April!!

Sorry, I wasn't aiming that at you - there's a regular poster on this board who thinks the slightest typo in an email warrants a complaint and claim for compensation.0 -
Hi EssexHebridean,
Thanks for the heads up even if it was not intended that way.
You will have stopped many of us on the MSE forum panicking wildly upon receipt of our emails. I only checked mine after reading your post.
I certainly would have been greatly concerned and contacted Tesco. In fact I will now go on their (excellent) forum and check out the fallout!0
