hey guys i guess you are right it makes sense to pay debts i was just a little scared of what happens when your debt free you still need time to accumulate cash to move etc etc anyway thats a bridge i can cross nearer the time... i work full time some more extra shifts have come up im debating if i should or shouldnt i dont want to burn myself out lol ... im tired today xI AM A MONEY MAGNET, THEY ARE MAKING MORE MONEY FOR ME AS WE SPEAK:pMIKES MOB, DFW NERD 1071, DFW LHS 132!MIRACLES HAPPEN I'VE SEEN IT WITH MY OWN EYES. aww hugs for you hpgdf...sometimes it just seems endless doesent it..if you want to share what your amounts and apr's are we could try work out what interest you'll save by paying stuff quicker...I know its hard and I'm sorry if it wasnt what you wanted to hear but as a good dfw friend I couldnt just say "yeah thats fine..." when it isnt! Hope you forgive me....
May be worth trying to set mini goals so that the whole ammt doesent seem so enormous and depressing? When I started (at 37,000) I never thought I would pay stuff off but I am getting there...slower than some but in the right direction and if its any consolation I got a kick up the bum myself couple weeks ago...hurts but worth it! HPGDF being a longhauler is tough and that lack of any savings in this uncertain climate is a worry but you will be in a much better position the more you debt you clear. ISOMs idea of small targets is a good idea.:j0

HPGDF, I totally understand how you feel, I would love to start saving. The way I see it though, is OH and I currently pay about £1400 a month toward debt. If we keep doing that, then eventually when it is paid off, it will be so fast to save as we will suddenly have £1400 a month to put away! If we tried to save and pay debt at the same time, we'd probably end up with the same savings in the end anyway by the time we'd paid extra interest.
And life isn't on hold, you can enjoy things as they are, the simple things like friends and family, which are far more important than anything money can buy. A cliche but its true.0 -
Hello everyone, hope you are all having a good weekend. Its a bit wet and windy here in MK and I've eaten far too jaffa cakes, damn you Morrisons for having them on special offer! ISOM I've completed about a third of the cross stitch, I'm not a very fast stitcher and often in the evenings I'm too tired! In terms of savings, well I would love to be saving, but think that debt busting is more important at the moment for us. We have zero balance in our saving account and any extra monies go towards the debt. The plan is once the debt is gone ( alvery long way off) we will then put the money that was going on the debt into savings. I agree with rambling tree family, friends and also your health are the most important. We never have any money left at the end of the month, but i like to think that we are poor but happy. PMA everyone, onwards and upwards x0

We are currently in second year of a DMP with another five years to go [hopefully sooner if poss]. Sometimes its really inspiring and feels really good however sometimes its just a grind.Think it is worse at this time of year when the whole world seems to be talking about their summer holidays.
it is still the best thing we have ever done and wouldn't change it for a second;)0 -
Hi hi hi hi isom im glad you told me what i needed to hear
i am back on the debt busting travel, yues it is sad to accept the journey but hey crap happens ... i will later update the aprs of all our credit cards etc etc and we can have a looksie
i was thinking of clearing small amounts first even if they have lower intrest but the freal dfw way is to reduce the highest intrest hehe it gives me a bzz thinking about it... i too pay around 1500 on debts alone and we are buring a 1000 excess on wedding so when i am debt free we have 2500 a month to stick in savings which is ok i guess ive even discussed selling when the market picks up and moving back home for a 6 to 12 month period to try reduce the debt quicker but a few hundred saving may not be the sanity i need haha.. im trying to loose weight for the wedding we have just cancelled our gym memberships and my dad has kindly bought a treadmill for himself a gym one that was 700 so i can use that free of charge .... i know i can still live liofe but sometimes i wonder why we are dealt these cards in life ... ai dear thanks you guys i am glad i joined ... i was ad the other day i was reading exchange of emails with my partner from 2005 and we recognised then we had debts and we didnt do anything about it and yet i kick myself for letting it progress so far on i cant imagine where i would be now if i had been abit more debt free focused in 2005 hell id probably be in less debt than i am now i wouldnt have a secured loan for a start
curse them cards
now lets kick some serious !!! !:P x

Thats the spirit! Pleased you took it in the spirit it was meat...I know its hard but imagine how incredible it will feel when we get there! I for one will be crying and dancing round the sitting room when the final payment goes out...
If youre happy to post the apr's and amounts and we can work out how much interest you pay a month and thats a great demotivator...I currently pay 65 a month interest which is nearly 800 a year!! Could have two decent holidays with that!! I think its about what works for you in demotivating yourself...my problem is I still, and probably always will, love shopping!!
Re feeling life on hold in some ways its about learning a new way of life forever cos when we're debt free we have to then stay that way and that means not spending like we used to and thinking about things like savings and mortgage overpayment....I hate not having savings but just cant afford to be spending money to have a safety net...if the worst comes to the worst I have my overdraft...Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1!
