I wish HPTGDF! Thats just the cc's - the loans run for another 5 years!! Realised that I was thinking ooo x paid off..lets shop while not realising cc creeping up so just trying to ignore the loans and focus on the CC's...
Yes it is galling when you realise what youve done...in my case my own stupidity and poor money management plus a love of shopping! Thankfully I do earn a good salary but also living on my own pay 1300+ in just mort/bills a month....In terms of being angry I think debt, or the realisation of debt, has many features simular to bereavement and loss (anger/denial/adaptaion/acceptance and a new way of living) and IMO we go through the various stages uinquely to our circumstances/personalities...I am at the stage where I accept what is done, is done and I just have to try each day afresh...some days I go awry but more often than not now I am ok...and when I do go awry its a few quid instead of a thousand!! One of the things I've learned along the way is that I've had to look at why I spend (tired/bored/low and want that high that I get from shopping-even though it doesent last) and its something I have to just keep working at an I suspect I will forever...Plus I dont regret it...I am a better person for being a DFW...more thoughtful and generous in giving of me rather than giving things...wouldnt change any of it :)

  • Well thats one good way of looking at it, i must say im glad im somewhat on my journey rather than realising now when its a bad climate we are comfortable with our cash each month just upset we have to pay big chunks back but say if we had our lbm now i think id be thinking of cccs and dmps because we would have been somewhat more than 70k in debt scary stuff so hurray to us for finally waking up to life..... ahhh if i win some big cash il try to remeber to be kind to the dfw friends :D ive often thought id like to give anonomous cash to people who you know needs it but at the mo i need to sort my bank balance out... im very giddy to the fact that in a few months i wont be paying for the wedding i will be able to deduct numbers off the debt at a speedier rate yipppeee xxxx

  • Hopefully as long as I have done it right this time and keep to budget we should only be in the o/d by £100 at June payday (25th). It will be tight mainly on grocery and diesel, these are the two main areas for overspend.

Heres to a great debt busting budget sticking month for all .

I was having a real wobble on the positivity front last night and just felt so down and this morning I come on here and read everyones positive thoughts and aims and goals and I feel so much better, so thankyou all!
Right, best get on with work, if I sit on the internet all day, I won't be popular!

aww hugs me lovely....can understand why you were having a wobble as its tough going, esp with that level of debt...as I suggested to HPTGDF I would suggest mini goals..they feel so much easier to achieve than looking at the whole amount...

Small goals are a great idea, I shall have a think and post some, if they're written down I can't ignore them!
HTGDF - well done on the stepper! For an MSE way to lose weight (I too cancelled the gym membership) I can heartily recommend Davinas power of 3. I've always been into running, but had stopped losing weight from it, so bought the dvd for £5. Have been doing it 3 times a week for a few weeks now and have lost weight, and also toned my legs: my thighs are soooo hard to make slimmer, but they are already half an inch slimmer, which in a few short weeks isn't too bad. So thats my plug for the day!
OK, now to pretend to work while thinking of mini goals...
  • rambling do you have a diary ?? id like to read it :D why not do 81 squares like some people have and colour them in when you tick a grand off it might help you keep going ?? im sick of looking at big figures but i like a goal it feel so fun :D and im sure with abit of hard work rambles we can get that dfd down .... mines late 2011 early 2012 so your 3 years after me lets aim to get you a little closer to me :D i look forward to seeing your targets xx

ok HTGDF...deep breath....the interest alone on those cards works out as £333.67 per month or £11 a day which over a year is £4015! Hopefully an incentive for you?
