    Welcomt to the board fedupandskint.

Have you looked at the debt free snowball calculator? I would say tackle the highest interest rates first then the 0%. You can always BT when the 14 months is almost up.

Happy Friday everyone (despite any weather problems :j )

I managed to make an over payment on my Egg card this month, then received an email from them on Wednesday informing me that as of 6 March they will be increasing my APR from 10.9% to 16.9%. I have the option to close the account clearing the balance at the present rate (won't have to clear all at once and can pay a monthly mininum).

At first I was shocked, then I panicked before realising my options, so I've decided to close the account and slowly reduce to a nil balance. I was hoping it would take me 4 months, but I think it's going to take longer, maybe 6 plus I have another two cards both on 0% that I'll need to move on to other 0% cards (assuming they are still available) round about the same time.

I think Egg has done me a favour :D .

PS: Has anybody else been on a eating frenzy this week or is it just me? I've been eating my favourite - cold Twixes - as if they are about to be removed from shops very shortly

Will not be a good one for me as have had hall to tile (300), new tyres (70)and Fergus (?!!) on the way so got pressies but feel ok about it as hopefully that will be it for a bit so I can catch up plus have been doing regular bits of babysitting so that all adds up plus not spending as much generally! How are others doing?

    Many thanks!:hello:

The number makes it more real for me

Not much more debt busting for me in big numbers as nothing to spare so am concentrating more on the small things.

Have done a freezer inventory to stop food spending :D and looking to do a household list file to get more organised. I have been off work after a car accident and have sorted all the drawers and bags stuffed with bills and statements from the last 6yrs and opened everything. It wasn't very pleasant at all but it is done now. Just need to finish filing now :o

Have been trying to list on ebay after sorting out a ton of stuff to sell but photos won't load  Even tho' the items sell for way less than what I paid for them I am taking the view that it is better to sell them for some money rather than lay unused and unworn.

Hiking boots on ready for the long haul ahead even when I land from the flight:rotfl:

  • Well done for tackling it fuas! The worst part for me was the pretending it was ill ok and aviding looking at the figures but once I had my head out of the sand and dealt with it the problem was more manageable!! onwards and upwards...or maybe downwards!!!

  • how are people doing? Not been a great month for me - new tyres, new slate flooring due to alfie weeing and ruining the carpet but all unavoidable! Just keep plodding!!

    Happy Sunday folks:j

I am overdrawn by a few quid as at this afternoon so I'll have to tighten my belt til I get paid on Friday. I had planned to have at least 6 NSDs this month, I'll have to report elsewhere, but it's not looking good so far :o

I can report that my sealed jar challenge is going great as I put a few quid in during the month so far and I'm actively using foodstuffs I already have before buying more :T. I can make an extra payment to Egg for March and managed to reduce my mobile phone bill also. I need to get a few home items, the most expensive of which might well be the shower riser thingy I need to affix my mixer shower hose/head to. The cheaper ones look as if they might last a few months before rust sets in and I'd like it to last a year or two before needing to be replaced.

Switching gas/elec is high on my agenda also. I did some comparisons earlier but am still undecided. I'll ring my current provider to see if I incur any penalties re loss of discounts if I leave within the next few weeks. I'm dreading the council tax bill for 2009/10 and rent increase for April onwards but have guesstimated an overall increase of £60 a month. Hopefully it will be less as I think my local council want to keep our CT bill at last year's rates :T

Cycling to work at least 3 days a week has gone well so far so I might be able reduce my monthly travel allowance of £35 downwards, especially if I cycle more on the weekends also.

I need to factor in some 'fun' money too but not sure how much. I'll have to think about it during the week as I'd like to come up with a figure to include in my budget for March

Still not replaced my tv yet. The shades of green and pink make viewing very interesting and I'm praying the tv lasts til later down the year when I'll have saved a few bob towards the replacement. If it goes before I'll just have to get a tv card for my laptop - cheaper still, although any visitors might take a while to adjust :D

Oh well, onwards and downwards (debt reduction) for the next month - taking it on a month by month basis, just in case disaster strikes :rotfl:.
