Hi all;
I've been on and off these boards since 2005 and really need a good kick up the backside to start concentrating on getting these debts further down again! Looks like I'll be here till around Feb 2012 (excluding mortgage which should end in 2030 ish) so there's a long way to go!!
Can I have a number please? ... need some more motivation. It started well at the beginning of the year! The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has it's limits...0 -

Morning all.
There are a few drawbacks with this debt free journey.Due to the nature of my work i benifit from cheap travel to France.I decided in a money saving effort to buy some beer from a hypermarket in Calais. Done well 5 cases for £18. Now yesterday i was decorating and ,as it does, the dust made my throat rather tickly so I decided to have a nice cold one. If i had not gone to France moneysaving i would not have had access to several more cold ones.Let me just say that it is bin day today and i will be hiding when they empty my bottle box as you will probably hear the chink, chink crash way up North :rotfl::rotfl:. I also feel a bit groggy as well.
Gemmzie. The money you need at the end of Jan. If it is not life or death there are always ways around problems of this sort. Hope you find one and put the matter to the back of your mind.
Well going to go and feel all sorry for myself now

The problem with it is it's a tax bill so it has to be paid because the fines are horrendous. And we have no other way to pay it.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

Hi gemmzie. You have my sympathy - I have to find £1095 for tax in January too.
I shouldn't say this, it's absolutely the wrong attitude, BUT I paid my tax bill late last year and they added interest (at 8% I think) but did not fine me.
I'm very grateful to you for suggested to me in January this year that I could ask for a reduction in the 'payment on account' part of the bill. Have you looked into whether you could get yours reduced.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

Oh No .Tax bill. That is just one down from life or death. Have not had much dealings with inland revenue since i stopped being self employed 13 years ago.Cant really give much advice about that but try to think of it as only £42 per week. Can you not come to some arrangement with them?
All the best

Seaxwyn - we did that last year and apparently they won't do it more than once. It's all to do with this stupid new rule that you have to pay so much extra to cover the just in case. Sure because we can afford to just hand over an extra £600 to line their wallets!
YM - We already save £140 a month for these people, as that's how much we owe. This extra is what they want in advance!! GrrrrrrrNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Thanks fishface - I don't tend to think about the mortgage since it's a long-term thing anyway, so glad others don't! Going to price everything up and sort everything out once and for all for November.
What's a little annoying is that on my barclaycard CC, they usually send me their usual "move your debt to us for 5.9% LOB" letter when in debt. Now I've cleared the card they don't send it.It could be because it coincided with the credit crunch issues at the minute, meaning they're less inclined to want my debts but that's very unlike barclays!
Having that 5.9% LOB would be very handy soon since my 0% for 9mths runs out on the Tesco CC in a couple of months. The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has it's limits...0 -
Hi everyone,
Uhhh Inland Revenue - bunch of useless idiots! My oh is self employed and my eldest son is "trying" to register as self employed but can't at the moment because for some strange and totally unexplained reason they have his date of birth wrong. It's great fun trying to sort that out!
I could do with a bit of advice actually. I'm trying to see an independent financial advisor to see if we could re-mortgage to a better deal or maybe move somewhere cheaper, but how do I choose who to see?? Should I see a couple?? All thoughts gratefully received!
Have just joined Quidco so trying to do this daily click thing.
