OMG I filled up my car today and it cost me £47    . I cant believe how much it is costing me to run my car just now. It only has an 1100 engine. I hate to think what people with big cars are paying. I tell you , once my youngest goes to high school I am going back to using the train and buses as this is doing my head in but unfortunately I really need a car just now.Rant over5 Year plan. hi everyone, hope all is well. My OH is a lorry driver and in the course of his part-time work (2 evenings a week), he has seen fuel prices at over £1.30 a litre in the London area. i think we will see many people give up their cars before the end of the year and I seriously think that the fuel will go over £1.50 a litre soon, of course once it does this, then it will never drop back again. Maybe should get a tandem with OH!0

I agree, the fuel prices are absolutely disgusting! They seem to go up on a daily basis which is ridiculous.
If this is a way to get us all on public transport the government need to sort them out!!!!

Hi all, just a quick update...
Still on the wagon, got my budget technique down pretty well now, and have been managing to save a large chunk of DH's additional income. This month my aim is to save £550, and to hopefully have a little left in our accounts at the end of the month
We have been putting a lot of our savings aside towards our loans (in a high interest account as early redemption fees are horrific), but have used a little more money this month to sort out stuff around the house and garden.
Hope you guys are all ok and doing well, hope I can get on here more often to keep up with what's going on!
Take care all

Yay, just wanted to post somewhere (haven't got my own diary as it would be very boring and no one would read it lol!) to say...
Our debts are now below £10k :T :j :T :j
I'm over the moon - I've updated my sig with details and am really lookin forward to updating it each month and seeing the total debt decreaseIt may also motivate me to log on more regularly lol x

I'm sure you'll get there - sooner than you think probably as well, seeing as how you've paid off £13k in 19 months (I think - my maths is pants!)
Our debt was well over £14k in January, but lots of saving, ebaying and hard work has got us down to under £10k by 1st May. If only I could pay my loans off early I'd be laughing - I'm kicking myself now for consolidating CC loans into bank loans, there was a better interest rate but no way of paying off early, unless I want to pay twice as much as the loan was for in early repayment fees
Anyway, rant over - long story short, if I can do it, anyone can! I think it helps me to look at the other DFWs who have done so well and follow their diaries, such as IA. It really has motivated me*** PROPHECY_GRRL****** DEBT FREE AS OF 17/10/11 - I DID IT!!! ***0 -
Thank you! I had a lot of blips on the way and head in the sand for a while so have set myself a 30 day challenge. I can only do smaller ones, put myself under too much pressure otherwise!
