    Since the OP is only seeking 3rd Party cover, then the theft risk is irrelevant to the quote, which is purely based on the risk that an inexperienced 16 year old on a motorbike poses to other road users, pedestrians and vehicles.
    OP, have you tried adding an older adult to the policy as a second rider?

    Yea I tried adding my mother who has a full A license for over 6 years, literally didn't budge the prices. Also I would like to believe 1 year of riding experience should be quite a lot in this case considering from what i have heard 1st to 2nd year of insurance the price drops to nearly half.
    First of all which insurance companies were these? Also, have you checked quotes for TPFT? As surprisingly TPFT is usually cheaper than just TP. Not sure why, but from my own experience that seems to be the case.

    Try BeMoto for insurance, they are meant to be quite good. Run by bikers for bikers kind of thing, so they might be able to help out more than your basic "computer says so" type insurance companies.

    Also, if you mention "44teeth" promo code during the call you will get free excess contributions up to £500
    Thank you very much I'll 100% check this out.
    A 16 year old who's still at school keeping a fast motorbike in full view of the street where it could easily be nicked using a van? Can't see why that would be expensive to insure.
    As i mentioned it can be kept in a locked area out of sight not to mention it has covers, alarm, immobiliser and multiple physical locks. As for being in school it's irrelevant as long as i pay the cover with my part time job.
  • Fast? I take it you don't ride

    The issues are;
    * Foreign national?
    * No UK NCB
    * Riding a 125 at 16
    * Declared as being stored on driveway (Garage pretty much essential for a decent quote in my experience)
    * Student rather than employed

    Sorry OP, I think the quotes that you have might be as good as it gets for you. However, if all you have used is comparison sites, I would suggest trying a specialist motor insurance broker. They may be able to do something better for you as they will access to the underwriters.

    Can you suggest any brokers? As for the employment status i have said i have a part time job which i could easily pay these insurance prices but screw me if i do at these rates... Either way I tried both employed, part time and even no employment and quotes were still exactly the same, same goes for garage vs driveway although it might be different in actuality. As for the comparison methods I have called up like 10 insurance companies but they just use the exact same system that is available on their site to get a quote, about half of them gave me precisely the same price their site said.

    One last thing just to clear up the companies I tried:
    • Motorcycle Direct
    • Carole Nash
    • Aviva
    • Bike Sure
    • Devitt
    • Hastings Direct
    • Just Motorcycle
    • Bennetts
    As you can see this is pretty much all major companies and most of them are bike specialised too...

    Aren't 16 year olds only allowed to ride 50cc in the U.K.?

    If so, that's the problem. Insurers rating won't cope with a bike over the power limit based on age.

    If you've live in the UK for 6 years how/why have you ended up with an EU licence rather than UK?

    Please read my previous posts, it was a lot cheaper and i could get it sooner. As i said it isn't the main factor though

    I did read, it wasn't clear. Having now read everything again, you've been riding in another country for a year which doesn't really tie in with having lived in the UK for 6 years.

    From an insurers point of view, you're driving at an age younger than people are usually legally able to do in this country, you don't have a UK licence, you've been living in another country for a year riding on the other side of the road and now want to ride in the UK. I am am amazed that anybody was willing to provide a quote at all.
    it was a lot cheaper and i could get it sooner.

    Sounds like it would have been better and cheaper to wait.

    I think what you're seeing is their "go away, we don't want to insure you" quote - which is where one or more things (in this case age) is outside of the range that their systems will normally quote for.

    There may also be a sense in which they see this as "gaming the system" to get on the road at a younger age than would otherwise be possible in the UK, and they don't see it as being in their interests to encourage it in any way at all.

    Like a couple of other previous posters, I doubt you'll find a cheap way round it.

    You have gamed the system to be able to ride a bike that the U.K. does not want you to be able to ride and so insurers are not interested in you at the moment. The numbers are not crazy, I!!!8217;m much older than you but pay over £1,000per year for bike insurance and £2,000 for car insurance.

    As others have asked, how can you claim to have lived in th U.K. for six years but to have been riding abroad for a year? Which were you doing for the last year, living here, or riding abroad?

    It is one or the other, not both...
