Dear Sirs
In feb of this year I booked a nice little 2 night stay away for me and my partner in Cornhill-On-Tweed, I arranged this through Expedia for the 2nd and 3rd March at a Cost of £189, which I paid on my Credit card. I contacted the Hotel on 28th Feb and found that they were snowed in and they advised us not to travel, contact Expedia And arrange a different date to stay. I duly informed Expedia and was informed after they had contacted the hotel that no charges would be made, or os I thought until I checked my Credit card and they had again charged me £189. I complained and was given it back, but how can they use my card wityhout my authorisation?

What does that mean?0
-
It means they processed the payment in error.0

So they are within their right to use the card without my authorisation? But I always thought that once a card was used it was encrypted, with only the last 4 numbers of the long number being visable - Please educate me in this, as I am totally unsure. If the card is encrypted as I believe it should be, then how can they use my Security Number?0

They had your details, processed the payment, refunded it and accidentally processed it again.
They've now refunded it to you again, so all is well.0 -
So I could not complain to a higher authority about them using my Card to take payment without authorisation?
PS - Really appreciate the help here0 -
You can send them a complaint if you want, but I'm not sure what you're seeking to gain.0

Am I wrong about encryption of the card once used?0
