Cheery's country living adventure

All this talk of dirty ovens. Being ex services we lived in married quarters for a while. When we moved (known as marching out) we were always worried sick we would have to pay cleaning charges as the families officer used to inspect the cooker with a torch and white gloved hands, occasionally unscrewing a bolt to see if any dirt or oil was lurking underneath. Last marched out nearly 40 years ago and I still remember it. The joy of not having to clean my oven to showroom standards stays with me8

I remember my best friend telling me about marching out. She sweated so much she lost every bit of her tan.

I have a number of friends in the RAF and they pretty much all have marchout stories! There are specialist companies that do the clean for you these days and almost all agree that they're a great thing and worth the expense as if you then get charged you can just claim it back!
As for oven cleaning - I'm pretty sure mine was described as self cleaning so I'm leaving it to it other than the grill pan - it would be rude to ask whether it was in fact washing regularly, no?!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

My friend would have been too tight to use you! Whilst abroad she managed to save enough to almost buy her house. Whilst everyone else had 2 amahs (sp) she only had a part time one. With 2 very young children too.

I don't even understand this word 'cleaning' that many of you are using . . .It's not difficult!
'Wander' - to walk or move in a leisurely manner.
'Wonder' - to feel curious.6 -

Haha - definitely vouch for the route of getting someone else to do it - especially if you inherit someone else's oven! We tend to wipe down the inside of the oven quickly each time it gets used (after cooling) which keeps the mess to an minimal level. The oven cleaner suggested once a year, but I can't see the budget stretching that far!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!!
