Cheery, you might not have got any painting done, but you have clearly done a lot of cleaning and tidying - which must feel really nice after living in a building site for so long! It's not difficult!

I've been threading my dried orange slices to hang in the windows though which is helping!8 -
Cheery_Daff said: It feels flippin great! 😊😊😊😊😊 We have been sitting in the dining room all evening, I have pottered around doing the washing up while we chatted (it's all part of the kitchen, but just down a step), and it has been SO nice. Just needs to be a little bit more cosy in there - it's not painted yet, no blinds etc.

Lovely news cheery, how nice for you both and just in time for Christmas too. Maybe you could make some Pot Pourri to sit on the dining room table in a little basket or dish and add some of the orange slices to it. That always looks homely and rustic.

Well done on making parts of the house habitable. Sometimes clean, tidy and organised is more important than decorating. And hopefully the decorating will be a bit easier now you have space to cook, eat, relax together and have overnight visitors without a panic!8

Thank you ladies. And yes, I'm definitely getting the impression that some of the remaining jobs will be easier now there's more space. I'm starting to get a feel for what it will be like to just live in now. I even cleaned the kitchen windows yesterday - they've been covered in plaster streaks and dust for weeks and there didn't seem much point cleaning them, but it's so nice to be able to see out!
My orange slices look cheerful this morning with the daylight streaming through 😊😊
I went to bed and left Mr Cheery having a very animated discussion with our friend at about 11.30. At 4.30 I got up to use the loo and they were still going! 😂 She went to bed not long after, but he didn't come up til 6.45 (!) so I can't imagine either will be very lively this morning.
I'd arranged to meet a different friend for a walk (well before we invited this one) - not a joint enterprise in this case so I'll leave them some breakfast things on a tray (nothing fancy - just some jam and a note pointing towards the bread in the freezer 😂😂)
Granite man is apparently coming at some unspecified point this afternoon. I'll be back at 1pm, and I've told Mr Cheery to stay in till then (although at this rate he won't be out of bed before then!) so hopefully it will actually get sorted out today, and that will be it before Christmas!
I do need to withdraw some dosh from Premium Bonds (sadly!) to pay the final kitchen invoice - it's not arrived yet but based on original kitchen quote it will be about £3300 - the only extra thing we've had from them is a spice rack. I've got just over £1000 left in the separate kitchen account, so I'll request the rest and it should be here by Wednesday I think.
Right, best get my act together and have my own breakfast!7 -
That's going to feel like a REALLY expensive spice rack!
It'll be good to get it all paid up though won't it, in all seriousness - and well worth what it's cost, I think!

Ha, I would hope the pull out spice rack only adds an extra £100 or so if that!
I've been out and had a lovely cuppa with a friend. Got home, and our friend who stayed over last night had a text from someone she lives with saying they'd tested positive last night 🙄 She's just done two lateral flow tests and they're negative, but still... 🙄
No sign of or message from granite guy so who knows when he'll turn up. Apparently kitchen geezer dropped the remaining shelf off not long after I left and woke Mr Cheery up... he's looking a bit worse for wear this morning...8 -
Oh no to your friend's close contact situation - here's hoping that she stays negative!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
