Thank you all 😊😊
Thanks for the context EH, that does make it feel a bit more reasonable. This is the bedroom as well of course, and both of them were two rooms knocked into one, so yes, probably quite reasonable!
Definitely going on a mission to both save and make a bit of extra dosh in the new year though... 🙄9 -
Evening chums
Urgh, I have been lost down Internet and reading rabbit holes today 🙄 I had great plans and they have all gone to pot!
I did manage a band rehearsal, and also a couple of hours clearing stuff out of my study. Sadly I didn't get my act together to clear it all the way out of the HOUSE so it's now all just sat in the dining room and by the back door.
Had plans to do more clearing this evening, but I haven't 🙄 So here we are, already quarter to ten, the place still a tip, no washing up, no clothes in the washing machine, and no bag or lunch or clothes prepared for tomorrow!
So here's a plan.
* 5 mins of taking rubbish outside and stuff into the garage. Only five minutes because I can't be bothered and if I plan any more than that I won't even start.
* 10 mins of washing up - first time in the new sink, very exciting!
* 5 mins paying builder invoice, not entirely sure why I'm putting it off because I've already decided I'm not quibbling it.
* 10 mins putting work stuff in bag and finding a very basic something for lunch (cup a soup??) Will probably just wear the clothes I've got on today... 🙄
That's 30 mins, so by 10.20 I can be ready to stick k on my nightie and curl up under a blanket on the sofa
Ready, steady, GO!8 -
Ok, well it took twice as long as planned, but I've done all those things now (except lunch - we are SO rubbish at having lunch things in, and there's nothing at all I can take without actually cooking pasta or something, which I'm clearly not going to do).
Still, I did do my first lot of washing up in the new sink, very exciting!8 -

I think that novelty might wear off quite quickly Cheery 🤣

Cheery, I'm so glad that the bulk of the work is done now, even if it has all cost you rather more than anticipated!
Also glad that your chook doesn't have to go to the v e tIt's not difficult!

Thanks 😂 I've not bothered washing up since then so I think the novelty has already worn off 😂😂
Electrician is here for the last time today, so we have a fridge! And a hob, and an oven! And smoke/heat alarms wired into the mains! (I must ask if they have a back up battery in case the power goes off again...) And he's changed a couple of switches, and added a switch for a light that's never worked.
Him and Mr Cheery are now going round trying to identify what all the switches on the fuse box are for 😂 might take them a while, some are outbuildings, and one is just labelled 'odd socks' 😂😂6 -

We discovered that our attic space is wired for lighting! & has two bulbs already screwed in! The only problem is that the former owner's son (who was the living here last) seems to have taken the loft ladder with him, so atm we can't get up there! There also appears to be a hinged hatch cover, which again we can't reach to close without a ladder - LOL - Guess what we are looking for in the xmas sales?4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 8 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 16 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!7 -
Oh dear RT! At least we do have ladders for two of our three lofts 🙄😂 but they've all got stupid doors that need to be pushed in and turned to get them out - what a nuisance!
The 'odd socks' switch has been revealed to be... the stable block 🙄😂 Was it the name of a horse?! Who knows. The question now is, what is the switched labelled 'stables' if not the stable block?? Possibly one of the other outbuildings - either (a) the one that's demolished, (b) the one that has no working switches in anyway, or (c) the one that has practically falling down?? Can't identify either the 'stable or 'barn' switches so they're both being taped off!
Coming to something when you can't even figure out what all your outbuildings are called 🙄 what an embarrassment! 😮😂7 -
Wow! I'm very impressed
and I mean, who knew that figuring out the electric meter could be so fascinating! Your property has a long and fabled history, I'm sure of it
