Fortunately it was pretty quick and is all done now! 😁😁 no incidents! The connector is glued on, and we can't use that bathroom until the glue is dried tomorrow - have put a sign on the door and a guitar case in front of it as I imagine it will be very easy to forget later! 😮9

Phew I bet that was a relief.

I think both me and the builder were extremely relieved 😂😂
I tell you what though, it's surprisingly difficult not to use that bathroom, despite all my precautions 😂😂 I had to go in to get my nightie, and it took all my willpower not to remove everything from the sink and turn the tap on 😂😂 Had to cart towel and toothbrush down to the other end of the house for a wash, then back to this bathroom to get changed (the other one is tiny, dingy, full of boxes, and has been used by the builders so the floor is covered in dust so I wasn't getting changed in there). Will be glad when it's back to normal!
Other builder progress today - the plasterboard has started to go on the upstairs wall, and they've drilled holes for the extra bolts holding up the ceiling 😁 completely unnecessary really as it's already been deemed 'adequate by building regs man but we bought the stuff to do it so might as well make it better while we have the chance.
Once those bolts are in, I'll be able to get on with the rest of the ceiling so it would be good if he could do it before the weekend really.
Nowt financial to report. Had tea in the cafe this morning, Mr Cheery bought some milk and a couple of bits, but that's it. Oh, sent my brother in law a birthday present and card.8 -
Phew to the good result on that pipe! I absolutely sympathise with struggling without an easily useable bathroom too - it really is a bit of a nightmare isn't it! Glad it all went well and hopefully you'll be back to normal on it pretty soon now!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I shouldn't really complain - I'm grateful that we do at least have another toilet to use and don't have to go in a field!! 😮😂 Two of our four sinks are out of action - but again, can't complain as we do still have two working sinks 😂 although neither of them have hot water. And we have an extra shower as well - although again without hot water so that will NOT be getting used!
Builder isn't here this morning, only his assistant, so we're still staying away from that bathroom until he's confirmed the glue has set properly.
The council's work on the lane is progressing too. They're not actually on the lane at the minute, just putting drainage pipes in a field (not ours). They're going to be around for a few weeks or even months though I reckon - they've set up an entire fenced off compound in a field with porta cabins etc, tarmacked a field entrance so they can get in and out more easily, and cut down a load of bushes that were lining the lane. Not even sure why they've done that except perhaps they were scraping along the sides of lorries?? They didn't impede visibility, cutting them down doesn't let you drive up onto the verge, so it does seem a shame to have lost them, they had beautiful swirly trunks covered in lichen 🙄
Hey ho.
No financial news. Went to the cafe but I only had tea. Mr Cheery has taken himself off for a few hours but that doesn't usually result in a spending spree (yesterday he came back with milk, malt loaf, and a cast iron pan from a charity shop that cost £6).
I've got a deadline today but everything is ready, I'm just waiting to see if anyone else responds by 1pm (which they won't) but then I'll send it anyway.
Might just sneak out and give the chickens some dandelions while I'm waiting!7 -
Latest premium bonds winnings have arrived today, so I've transferred that £50 to the kitchen offset fund - grand total now at £3944.05.
That plus our original £23k budget gives us £26944.05.
Our original target for the offset fund was £23k (to give £30k in total) which leaves us £3055.95 to make...
Going to make a final decision on appliances tonight so that willbe added on to the new total, which is very rapidly approaching £30k... so we might be saving into the kitchen offset fund for a while...6 -
You've inspired us on the premium bonds - from this month we're going to stick half of any surplus we might have from lower than usual commuting and other spends into them to see what we get...! I'm working firmly on the basis of it being money we wouldn't have had otherwise so whether we win is really quite irrelevant!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
