Right, practical head on.
I'd emailed kitchen fitters about granite, and they've just replied. We choose the stone we want, and tell them, and they arrange cutting and fitting etc. The place we need to go and look at it is in Sheffield - and we'll be quite near there tomorrow on a dentist trip...
So tomorrow, I'll ring and see if we can pop in (they're appointment only at the minute, although it's a large outdoor yard, so hopefully won't be too packed). That'll be another job ticked off!7 -
Can you find Mr Cheery lots of errands to run whilst you have the builders in? so he can get some headspace. This will hopefully take some pressure off you as then you won't be worrying about him at the same time as project managing and working.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Yep, I'm sure we'll both be doing our best to find other places for him (and me!) to be. I might go into the office at least once a week and ge can entertain himself in the city, and of course after next week I'll have Fridays off so that'll be good for adventures 😁
And of course the new chicken run extension can accommodate a deck chair so I suspect that will be made good use of 😁8 -
A good pair of noise-cancelling headphones might help for when you do have to be in the house.

Good suggestion Fortune!
We're at the dentist again 🙄 Mr Cheery again this time. He's got to come back to the city this evening, and rather than him trying to kill 9 hours here between times, or driving 4 hours today, I've driven this morning, and then he can come back on his own this evening.
Stocked up on biscuits etc for the builders. Going to get a second cheap kettle so they can have their own tea and coffee station - that worked well last time, and then I don't have to worry about making them drinks while I'm working.8 -

A tea and coffee station for the builders - what a great idea! I'm stealing that one for future use.

That's a lot of good planning right there, Cheery. And roll on the four-day weeks2023: the year I get to buy a car7

Our house is in a kind of horse shoe shape Fortune, so we can effectively cut them off, with their own entrance, toilet, sink - and kettle 😁 works well (although sadly the bedroom and my study are on their side - but everything else is on ours).
Must get them a key cut just in case...7 -
Right. Dosh arrived from premium bonds, so I've paid the two garage bills.
Did YNAB and reconciled banks etc. Transferred £2.20 bank account rewards, and £35 refund from the AA to the kitchen offset fund, which now stands at
£3063.44
That feels good!
So far we've spent:
£500 builder deposit
£2600 kitchen deposit
£600 radiators
£120 kitchen floor sealant/grouting stuff
= £3888
Not too far off!
Speaking of grouting... need to stop faffing around finding tiny jobs on the internet and get on with painting the ceiling so I can grout the floor this evening...7
