Cheery's country living adventure

OK, vouchers activated, and turns out this month's arrived yesterday too so I've done them all at once and transferred another £100 to the kitchen fund, now at £1295.22!
Excellent stuff.
Which reminds me - the builder never got back to me about the second hand kitchen... if we can't have that, we'll have to start looking for a new one, so need to get on with it. Will droop him an email, then must get to work...6 -
Sorry Cheery, my cat pee joke was a bit too frivolous for such a horrible situation. I regularly read a blog from a woman in Chicago who was deep in academia, a screenwriter, and it sounded a nightmare. Sounds a nightmare over here too
Keeping track of hours worked and getting promoted so you can retire early sound like *very* good ideas.

Cat pee jokes are always welcome, as is frivolity in the face of work-based annoyance!
Anyway, it turns out I was a little quick off the mark - I'd forgotten that everything got increased last year as we were all getting to grips with the new tech and teaching online etc. So it's actually not a new reduced amount, it's back to the same as it was the year before... 🙄 Glad I didn't go in yelling 😂
Anyway, I'm reasonably happy with my plan for next year - I'm not doing anything new, which means I already have classes prepared for everything, so it may be a little less hectic... Also before Christmas should be a lot calmer than this year, giving me chance to finish writing what I'm starting over the summer. Things ramp up after Christmas, but again, I've done everything before.
And if I get my funding bid, I'll replace at least one of my post-christmas things so that will make life easier.
Anyway, enough waffling from me! Had some good news about deadlines too which means I can have the weekend off after all!7 -

Aw, bless you both! 🥰
Gosh, my brain has been firing on all cylinders and is now rather fried I confess! I've been going round in circles trying to sort out budgets for a project which I HATE but today decided to change my thinking - I LOVE MSE style budgeting, why do I hate work budgets so much?? Obviously there are lots of valid answers to that question 😂😂 But I decided to pretend it was an MSE themed day and it's got me through with much less hassle! 😂😂
Still not finished mind you, but I'm starting to flag now. Trying to decide whether to battle on and have the weekend off, work the weekend and make next week easier, or have the weekend off anyway and just mightily pull my finger out on Monday... that might be a recipe for disaster though...
Ooh, and some builder news. Windows man rang and wants to come next week. I've left a message saying I'd be ever so grateful if he could do something else next week and come back when my deadline has passed 😂
And kitchen man came back saying they're removing the kitchen next week, but the owners have pushed them to get it out very quickly so it may get damaged... hmm. I'd like to salvage some of it if possible!
Right, best finish this multi coloured spreadsheet. Goodness knows what the woman in Finance is going to think 😂😂10 -
I too very much enjoy your waffling!
Let’s hope the kitchen is only loosely fitted and will delicately fall apart when the builders look at it rather than resisting!
I’m sure the woman in finance will be duly impressed by your colourful spreadsheet!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I imagine I've made things more complicated than I needed to!
Brrrr, chilly today, and the weather is VILE! Complete downpour. Definitely a indoor day - and I'm going to get a few hours of work done.
First though, a bit of excitement on the Happy Wheel - hit a bonus round for £125! Down on some other bits so a total of £118 today, and £148 total for May so far.
Right, dressed and work for a bit before I regret it...6 -
Hurray to waffling, Cheery - eg just yesterday, it got you to the question about loving personal mse budgetting and hating work budgetting - thats really useful. And chatting about chickens is such a highlight! I love it.
I'm with madvix in hoping the kitchen will delicately let go of where it's currently installed, and waft itself over to you, no problemo. In any case, long live the Happy Wheel2023: the year I get to buy a car7
