i quite like old lady names for chickens but we'll see. A local village has 'remarkable women' as a theme for its activities this year so I might tie in with that
Suggestions appreciated!

How are the chooks settling in Cheery? Exciting times!!
Love the list of names, Edwink, although some of those names are definitely coming back round again - I have a Brownie called Esme and a little baby I know has just been given Elsie as a middle name.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Ruby is definitely popular at the moment as I know a few, especially double-barrelled like Ruby-Grace or Ruby-May. I also know a few baby/toddler Esme's too.Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000

Thank you for all the suggestions! :j
Hens are arriving on Sunday themadvix so will be named once they're here. Currently considering a few (dead) relatives names but not sure if that feels a bit weird :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Whoops, sorry, got confused about days of the week and which Sunday (I get the digest, which always confuses me!).
Hmm, dead rellies.... I do have some with lovely names, so I can see where you're going with that.... :rotfl:Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Thanks edwink :j as you may know by now from the chicken thread their run won't actually be ready despite all our running round over the last few days
You might wonder what on earth we've been doing, and the answer is (a) not starting early enough and (b) making the most ludicrously overspecified hen run in the history of chicken keeping
:rotfl:
Chickens will therefore be living in the stable block for a day or twoand yes, we are counting ourselves very lucky that we have a stable block to put them in
Too tired to think about anything else MSE:rotfl: :rotfl:

They will be fine in a stable Cheery until you get the run sorted I am sure. As long as they have some daylight they will be fine. When we collected our very first 12 rescue hens I had to choose from over 100 that were in a stable.
Maybe just put a few things in there for them to climb on to make it a little interesting for them. Also scatter some nice treats and bedding around on the ground that they can scratch about in as that will also give them something to keep themselves occupied. Maybe pick a few bunches of grass and leave that in there for them to explore also. That should do the trick nicely.

Thanks edwink
There are windows running all the way down one of the long walls so plenty of daylight, and there are a few low dividers between stalls so they can climb on there. I'm going to sweep out the largest bit and put the house in there along with plenty of bedding, treats etc but they'll be able to access the rest too if they want.
I've been saving up my lettuces that have bolted so they can have a couple of those to play around with while they're waiting - should be sorted by the end of tomorrow!0
