Cheery's country living adventure

I do hope so KC!! I know that the worst of the cold weather is probably still to come... but somehow slightly longer days does make things seem more hopeful
Just fast forward through the Strictly final and got all enthusiastic about dancing againI LOVE to dance, but with steps and instructions and someone flinging me around, not on my own. Sadly I've never had a partner who was that into dancing. Well, Mr Cheery is not averse to dancing, but generally refuses to follow instructions
Think I need more (or at least some!) dancing in my life though...4 -
It was indeed an ungawdly hour Cheery - I usually don't start until 9:30 but with the new tier introduced on Saturday, there was a bit of reactionary work to be done to reassure staff and keep things ticking along smoothly. No worries - only three more working days and then a glorious 10 days of no work until January - Hooray! (where is the jumping smiley when you need him?)4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! I miss the jumping smiley too!
Dramatic whirlwind this morning! Checked my diary for the chimney sweep time when I got up - it said 'mid morning, will ring for directions'. I was merrily enjoying a cuppa at 8.50, thinking I'd shift and clear a path for the sweep when they arrived!how is 8.50am mid morning?!
there wasn't actually that much in the way, but I hadn't tidied the offshot, which was entirely full of bird seed and recycling
They worked SO fast! Got the giant Hoover on the chimney, cleared the last of the birds nest, fitted a cowl on the roof, tidied up and were back off up the drive in less than 30 mins
I did manage to tidy the offshot somewhat while they were up on the roofbut now I'm just having a sit down with a cuppa to replace the one I had to abandon
Very excited about having a fire though, will make going back to work a bit more bearable!
Sun is shining today! Sadly Mr Cheery is still feeling rough, so there likely won't be any more work on the chicken runI might get out there and shift wood chip onto the veg bed path though.

Sorry Mr Cheery isn't feeling that great still
I hope you've got all your supplies and don't have any necessary journeys (I know you like journeys for tea and cake
).
Chimney sweeps sound excellent!2023: the year I get to buy a car8 -
Thanks KC. We will pop out for milk & fruit but have everything else now.
Been out shifting woodchip in the sunshine! Three wheelbarrow loads onto the veg patch paths, and another trug full into the chicken run. I also sorted them another dust bath - a large plant pot full of old compost that's been sat drying out in the greenhouse for months. They're very pleased!
Rewarded myself with a teensy bit of Christmas cake
Paid the chimney sweep invoice already so I don't have to keep thinking about it. Might tackle the bank accounts tonight7 -
Wow Cheery - a productive morning all round! - A fire will add a bit of cosy hygge to your days over the winter, so glad you got it sorted!
Sorry to hear that Mr. Cheery is under the weather, sending lots of healing vibes his way! My OH was also having a bit of a health issue this morning, what is it with our old boys eh?

* NEED to do something with the utility room/offshot/entrance (we never did decide what to call itusually it's the offshot, but occasionally we confuse that with the lean-to, which is actually an outbuilding
) It's entirely full of wellies, recycling, tools, chicken treats etc etc and is getting quite difficult to navigate

Good suggestion BB, I'l try it out! It's also the main entrance into the house (the 'front' door, which is at the same side of the house as the 'back' door, goes straight into the living room, and is up a set of outside steps). So it'd be nice if it was tidy and nicely decorated and welcoming, although in reality it's always going to be full of coats and wellies 😂
Hang on, I'll try to attach a fire pic - not that picturesque as I just snapped it while they were putting tools back in the van, but you get the idea!
