Ha FA - that's definitely an exact photo of the garage
Glad you managed to get rid of your mice Pyxis! I suspect there are probably things we could do to make things better, but to be honest there are so many places they could be getting in here I'm not sure I can face it, certainly not now! Just heard one in the attic this afternoon so going to put one of the traps up there in a bit, see if we can catch it.
Er, Vix.. .yes, we were meant to be doing the marathon... Sadly our plans were foiled, partly by a local lockdown which made doing short loops from my sister's house impossible (because I'm not allowed in), and also she's been having more tests related to her stroke this week and it was deemed not exactly prudent to be walking that far in one go right now. And since I was only doing it to accompany her, there's no way I was going to do it on my own...
Struggling to get going today. (Bit of over-sharing coming up, feel free to look away!) I've been having bouts of recurring thrush over the last year or so - I thought it had eased off but this weekend it's come back again with a vengeance. Medication from the doc hasn't made much of an impact so it looks like I'm going to have to ring them again tomorrow. It's not exactly making me want to get up and do the DIY though!! So I confess most of the weekend has been sat grumpily reading, or in the bath (which I don't think helps, but is at least a nice distraction), or watching the elite marathon on the tv and doing my knitting. Not a bad weekend in a way but not exactly productive!
Going to have to shift myself shortly though to clean out the chicken run so I might take advantage of being vertical to do a couple of things
* couple of things I want to print
* put some washing on - going to have to dry inside anyway at the minute as the weather is rotten so it doesn't matter that it's not first thing in the morning
* make some more Joe Wicks breakfast muffins!
* do a tiny spot of tidying in the study - it's getting a bit cluttered in there
That'll do I think. Then I might have another bath, and I've got 30 mins of a film left to watch from yesterday so more knitting might be in order!10 -
Hope you feel better soon, cheery ❤Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000.
Aiming to be mortgage free by my 40th birthday, June 2026!6 -
Thanks Jessy, I'm sure it'll pass!
Surprisingly, I did get all of those things on my list done!! Much more successful than my usual over-ambitious listswashing is washed and hung up, muffins are made and in the freezer, study is tidied and hoovered and desk clear ready for starting work again. I even picked a courgette and some chard from the garden to make my tea, and a few flowers to put on my desk (including my first sweet peas!)
The only thing I didn't manage to do was the printing - for some baffling reason I couldn't print pdfs from my laptop - it would let me print word docs but not pdfs. Pretty sure I've done it before so I must have changed something in the settings, but I was getting too cross to sort it out, so I've emailed it all to work laptop and I'll try with that in the morning
Other than that not much achieved except another bath, a meal plan and a shopping list!8 -
That sounds like plenty, cheery - you've done well to do anything wtih a bout of thrush, yuck. And I'm sorry to hear about your sister's stroke as well
she's very young for that.
2023: the year I get to buy a car8 -
Thanks kc, it was a few months ago now (not sure if I shared), a small ish one, she was at work and didn't notice at the time! But yes, she's young (younger than me) so they're still investigating. And I did tell her when she booked it that a marathon probably wasn't ideal recovery but she just never listens to me!9

Sorry to hear about your uncomfortableness Cheery - you have my sympathy. Hope you get something to shift it soon. Sorry to hear about your sister too - not nice at all being so young. Hope they manage to get her sorted out soon too.
It sounds like you had quite a productive day in the end!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

hi cheery please ignore if you know this already. My SIL gets thrush if she puts anything in the bath water. You probably don’t know my SIL 🤣but was more about the bath. Not sure if any of that makes sense.CRx5

Hi Cheery
hope things clear up soon. Very horrid for you. You may have already tried this but what's worked for me in the past has been eating the following each day:- one clove of raw garlic
- a serving of plain bio-yoghurt
- a spoonful of apple cider vinegar in warm water in the morning.
Not all together though 😆
And... avoiding all sugar (I know, tough one this).
Meditation/relaxation can help if you think the cause is stress related.

Thank you all for your sympathy and suggestions! Much appreciated. Mine is (again, TMI) monthly cycle related, so arrives reliably 3 days before aunt flo does (when I am already at my least tolerant) and disappears with a few hours of her arrival. Most vexing. I do eat quite a bit of yogurt (and garlic!) but not cider vinegar! Don't tend to put anything in the bath either but I realise I do wash my hair in there so there's shampoo... will have to stop that.
Anyway, I'm fine today, thank goodness. Still an ongoing issue to sort though.
Not a bad day today, 4 hours of online teaching but it went pretty well, and I did manage to stop before 6 which is an achievement these days!
Booked car for MOT at nearby garage, although they can't fit me in til next Thursday, 2 days before MOT runs out, so hopefully there's nowt wrong with it... our old garage used to check everything and then take it somewhere else for test, but I suspect this one will just test first..8 -
I used to get thrush reliably every month for up to 7 days before my period and then it would just go. About 15 years ago the thrush just stopped, I think I've had it twice since then. I don't know know what happened to change things for me. I hope yours spontaneously stopsFashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
