Looks much better Cheery
I had a look at the green homes thing as well today. It seems I'd be eligible for a grant for an ASHP, but looking at the detail, I'd need to go for a hybrid system otherwise the whole heating system would need upgrading. So the EDF offer is very tempting. Something to thing about, certainly. It would be nice to be using cleaner, less smelly fuel and not worrying about how much is in the tank all the time!6 -
Oh wow Cheery, what a fantastic improvement! Definitely a good spot for a bench for lunch!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Cowabunga! 😂😂
You'll have to stop amoosing yourself like this, Cheery!
You'll have to get yourself a cowgirl hat and a fringed jacket and learn how to use a lasso!
I must admit, I don't know how I'd react to finding my garden full of cows!
I'd probably wonder how they managed to get through the town without being noticed, and then get through two fences and a wall! 😂
A fox is about the largest thing that has ever ventured in, though.
I don't suppose they are dairy cows, are they? If so, you could always negotiate some free milk in exchange for your field use.l(I just lurve spiders!)

I think there will definitely be some kind of chair at some point! Although there's a public footpath running on this side of it so it's not exactly secluded

Gorgeous views, Cheery, thanks for putting them up. How often does that footpath get used? You really do seem to be out in the sticks.And brilliant news about the wifi, by the way!2023: the year I get to buy a car8

Thanks all. It's made the whole garden feel much lighter!
We do see someone on the footpath roughly once a day or so through the summer. It's not really the main route to or from anywhere, there's nowhere close to park, and it's at the top of a hill, so it's mostly the walking-all-day walker type rather than being a casual walking-half-a-mile-from-the-car hotspot. We do get quite a few teenagers doing DofE in a normal summer though (and wandering off into random fields and arguing about where the footpath is) I like it when I'm outside and can say hello to people (I'm always nosey about where they're been and are going!)
Forgot to pop in with successes yesterday (not sure there were many but trying to keep track!)
HOME
* wood oil arrived for ceiling beams
GARDEN AND LAND
* finished clearing garage and loaded car for first trip to the tip
* garage removed!! Hooray!!
* cut another strip of hay
MONEY
* er... had leftovers for lunch, and boiled a couple of eggs extra to eat today
Not too bad for a work day (especially as the car was loaded before half 8 in the morning, and then I didn't finish work til half 6).
A few plans for today.
* workout
* Cafe/charity shop trip I think
* might do two trips to the tip, save the rest of the rubbish from getting rained on
* peen scythe, and then cut at least a couple of strips
* fix tyres on foldy bike
* rake cut grass into a massive pile
* supermarket order should arrive at 6
* bit of batch cooking if the weather turns (or save til tomorrow if not)
* blog post
That'll probably do. Raining tomorrow so might do batch cooking then, and make a start on putting oil on the ceiling beams8 -
Right, struggling to get going today!
We went up to a little town for a cuppa by the canal, but sadly it was p*ssing down when we got there, and although it did ease off while we were waiting almost 20 minutes (!) for our takeaway drinks, by that point we weren't in the mood for getting any more soggy so drank them in the car. Sadly that cafe has blotted its copybook one too many times, and today was the last straw. Cakes which used to be nice are now rather more fancy LOOKING than tasty, they put jam and cream on ALL their scones first thing in the morning, so it's impossible to buy a plain one, and the service is just so slow, which isn't too bad when you have a seat, but of course they've removed them, so we were just basically standing next to the main road. It's not that close to us, and the only other draw is ONE charity shop, so I think that might be our last visit for a while.
Hey ho.
Since we got back I've barely done anything! Made lunch, did banks/YNAB, wrote a blog post. Oh, and I've added the mortgage as a payee on the banking app, so I can just easily shove a few quid over there as and when I get a discount or something - realised I had £22.75 in a 'mortgage overpayments' pot in YNAB so I've chucked that across today. Mortgage end date still November 2040, sigh - but hopefully that'll change drastically once I make the changes to the monthly amount on payday (which isn't til the 18th).
Had a text from Morrisons to tell me the name of my delivery driverand to say we have a number of substitutions/things they can't bring. Grrr. Aubergines, coffee, almond milk. They were all in stock when I ordered them (of course!). Yawn. If they bring a substitution, I take it I get it at the original price?? Wonder what they'll try to substitute for an aubergine?!
Anyway, need to get up and DO something, or else I'll feel the whole day is just dripping away... The weather isn't too bad, although it's a bit windy for scything. Might stick my overalls on and make a start on the kitchen ceiling...11
