Ooh, I tell you what else happened today! I finally figured out how to download audiobooks from the library onto my phone :j To be fair I'd never really tried before :o :rotfl:

Rather annoyingly I forgot to cancel my @mazon prime membership that I had free before Christmas  Will go and cancel it now.

Oh, and I've just chased a parcel that was apparently dispatched on 19th December, but still hasn't arrived  There was nothing on the tracker the other day - but now it reckons they attempted delivery three times, left a calling card (they did NOT) because it requires a signature (WHY - it's several pairs of novelty Christmas glasses :rotfl: ) and have now returned to sender after being told I no longer live at this address  :rotfl: News to me :rotfl: :rotfl: Y8del couldn't be bothered finding my house more like!
  • coincidently I downloaded borrowbox today, is that the one you use. I'm wanting some audible books for DD, who's not a very strong reader, but refuse to pay amaz@n another £7.99! Is this the app you use?

    Thanks Cheery!

I'd never thought of borrowing audio books - I'll give that a go when things calm down, the new phone has arrived with a little pair of buds.

Our library gave me a choice between Borrowbox, RBDigital and something else - I went with RBDigital because the other two required me to enter my library pin, and while it's saved automatically on the computer when I log into the library website, I can't actually remember what it is :o:o RBDigital let me just use my library card number to set up an account with them.

But I *think* that (rather annoyingly) they have access to different books! Not sure though, I might just have had one set to show me what was available, and the other to show me things that were checked out too. Bit annoying if you have to download all of them, but I'll check before I get too cross :o :rotfl:

I hadn't thought of it either, but someone on here suggested borrowing digital copies of magazines from the library, so I tried that a while ago and noticed it did audio books too. I'd been borrowing some on CD from the mobile library a while back :rotfl: Then I got a free trial of Audible - got quite into listening to self help books in the car on the way to work :rotfl: :rotfl: But I'll cancel that now, and see how I get on with the library instead :j

Just went for a run and there was the most epic sunrise. Only lasted about ten minutes so I'm glad I caught it :j Had a text just as I left saying my overlocker will be delivered between 8.36 and 9.36 this morning so i cut my run a bit short and got dressed really quickly so I didn't miss them - but of course they're still not here :rotfl: Going to have to fight the urge to play with it until I've finished work! :rotfl:
  • Love the idea of an over locker but all those threads ! I would get in a pickle

Well I might too - but I was careful to buy one that comes already threaded so I can at least start off well :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Tried to cancel Audible this morning, but they offered me three months at £3.99 each so I've stayed for a bit :o I get one book a month for that deal, and I can still listen to them once I've cancelled my subscription, so that's a reasonable deal I think. Will check what I can't get in the library, and what I think I'll listen to over and over (as I do with some of the ones I've got already) and see.

Right, teleconference done, just need to type up some notes and then WRITING (although it's also nearly lunchtime, so...)

Well, my first outing with the overlocker has been a success! :j :j I made a pair of knickers :rotfl:  :rotfl: Not going to win any fashion awards but goodness me they're comfy :rotfl: Almost come right up to my waist :D :rotfl:

    I used this pattern

    Scrundlewear

Apparently it's meant to take 30-60 minutes, but as I'd never used an overlocker before, or ever sewn anything using a pattern, it took me a bit longer... Probably an hour and a half last night, and another hour or so this morning so still not too bad! And some of that was figuring out what on earth happened when the overlocker stopped overlocking  (I now know WHAT happened, and I fixed it, but still have no idea HOW it happened)

So - cost of new pants? Depends what you count :o :rotfl:

They're organic bamboo fabric, I paid £12 for a metre including postage (although actually it looks like they've sent me about 1.5m) - there's enough to do about 4 or 5 pairs there I reckon.

Pattern itself cost £10 but obviously that's a PDF so I only need to buy that once.

And of course the overlocker cost £267 :o  :rotfl:

Clearly I just have to make LOTS more things so the marginal cost of each goes down :o :rotfl: :rotfl:

My sympathies! Only 2 coffees though?? I'm on my third cup of tea already! :rotfl:

Chins up with the emails....some unwieldy fire breathing dragon

I'm only a one coffee a day type of gal - so 2 is excessive - it's usually herbal tea to strengthen my immune system or ginger/lemon/honey if I'm under the weather!

Have almost made it through the first week back! It was a real lesson in fortitude:D Got back on my first day to a last minute organizing of visitors, which means any meaningful work got put off until Wednesday!

The e-mail dragon was a little bit like the JL xmas dragon - the fire needed taming but eventually it was manageable! About 100 of them were actionable or needed responses - the rest were mainly dealt with by a delete button, or filed away for future reference!

Our first draft of next fiscal year's planning document and budget is due in 1.5 hours & I'm waiting on 3 of my team-members to get their finger out and produce something for me to work with! SIGH - only 1 got it to me early yesterday - he's sooooo organized;):o

Hope your first week back was less memorable than mine!!!:rotfl:

 Hope your pesky team have managed to give you something to work with RT or else I imagine you're tearing your hair out right now!

My first week back has been rather less memorable, yes :rotfl: :rotfl: Mostly been cursing Past Me - I thought I'd finished a particular thing, and had been just procrastinating on the thing that comes after it (or rather 'prioritising other things' because nobody else was involved, only me). Turns out I actually didn't finish the original thing  so my week has been mostly spent finishing that off, and next week will have to be dedicated to doing the thing I *thought* I was going to be spending THIS week doing  :o

Hey ho. Perhaps Present Me will learn to be a bit kinder to Future Me :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
