currency exchange euros to GBP - cheque

Hi,
I have searched high and low for an answer to this query. I have a cheque in euros which I want to have paid into my bank account. I understand the bank will give me a poor exchange rate and so I have tried several other companies such as HiFx, Transferwise etc but none of them will deal with a cheque.

Is there any company who will do this for me?

I have been trying to solve this problem for 10 days without success so if anyone can help I would be really grateful.

You really don't want to be using this company - never mind that it went belly-up years ago.

Why not ask in the Currency and Flights forum - it is the proper place to ask.

If you think it's worth it, such as a substantial amount or likely to be repeated, it's not hard to open a euro account in Rep of Ireland online if you have a UK address and tax id. For example KBC Ireland. Mail the cheque over then use TransferWise or Revolut etc to send it to a UK account.

You could open a multi-currency account with Fineco bank; pay in the Euro; then perform a fee-free currency exchange at a near-perfect exchange rate to sterling.

If you use my referral code (posted in the referers' section of this forum) when applying for your account, then both you and I benefit from a bonus of seventy pounds as well.
