excellent! let us know how you get on. i have a feeling it won't work if you just filled it with hot water and didn't microwave the container, as i think that's how it works, but i may be wrong!

everyone i've shown the aladdin thing to has said they want one as well!

The man from Delmonte, he say......YES! :j (almost)

After 4 hours, the potato was still warm enough to make a very enjoyable meal. And, most interestingly, at a temperature that would make a nice meal on a warm day too (with some nice cold coleslaw).

I'm going to try nuking it tomorrow (instead of the hot water), and also stick in some of those freezer sachets that have stood in some boiling water just to add a bit of extra heat. :)

    Uni potato - £2.75
HM potato - 45p depending on topping

I'm defo off to my Wilko's this week to get an Aladdin. Do they HAVE to go in a microwave though? We don't have one :(

I posted a while ago asking about a divided lunchbox and got exactly what I wanted from Lakeland, thanks to some kind posters on this board.

Ds3 is going to be packed lunch king at school! :rotfl::T

Does the jacket potato have to be hot when you put it in the thermos, or can you use a cold one and the thermos heats it up?
I bulk cook and freeze my jacket potatos.
Sorry if this is a daft question.

Do you bake the large 'baking potatoes'? that the supermarkets sell. If so, don't. They're often overpriced and you can bake any potato. The extra benefit is if you bake smaller ones they cook quicker and they should be small enough to get more than one in the wide necked flask!

I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...

I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!

I tend to buy a huge bag of normal potatos, I use the largest ones for baking and the rest goes in the corned beef hash/curry/stews.

Not sure about the Aladdin flask as you can heat flask and contents at the same time and I've not used one - I presume it will heat the potato to safe eating temperature. If you were using a normal wide necked thermos then you would definitely have to heat the spud first :)

well done Steve-O by the way, glad it works and that's a heck of a saving ! :T

Bought one of these today too... Have to say I wasn't impressed with the colour choices of horrid bright green or PINK (no not pink... it's PINK!)... I settled on pink in the end purely because I panicked! :)
Think I might put lasagna in it tomorrow and take the hound for a long walk at Stowe gardens and have my hot lasagna on my free picnic blanket from National Trust... :)

Nadine spuds are the nicest baking spuds I have found.

As for Uni prices - they are the same everywhere overcharging students, guess they're seen as an easy target.

Thanks OP and Rach, I'm now the proud owner of 2 heat 'n' go's. They cost £4.99 in my wilkinsons but I had a £10 voucher. Can't wait to try them out.
