did you microwave it after putting the porridge in? that's how it works - its activated by the microwaving not like a normal flask..Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0

Are these easy to open? I cant use my hands well, but these sound ideal if hubby needs to leave me for a while. I have to eat regularly and more of a savoury tooth. I prefer baked spuds, stews, chilli etc etc to sweet things.
I am not sure where my local wilkinson is? Will have a look online.
Thanks

I'm definatly going to get some of these they will be ideal for dd2 she would prefer to take something warm to school and would save me a fortune when she goes to college on a friday might get one for my dad for when he goes fishing and put it in his christmas box. they'd also be brilliant for when we go out for drives at weekends.0

Thanks so much to Rach for suggesting these! I bought one for DD and she is loving having jacket potatoes for lunch, as well as leftover chilli, spag bol etc.
Penny-Pincher, the top unscrews but the whole thing IS quite wide and sometimes it might be hard to get a grip on it. Also I discovered the other day that if you heat the food too much the bottom half expands and sucks the lid on tightly, my poor DD texted me and said it had taken her 15 minutes of wrestling with it to get the top off. Eventually by using the handle as a lever and really shoving it she managed it but if your hands are not strong, you might have a problem with it.
I don't have a Wilkinsons near me either so bought mine from Amazon, more expensive but I've used it so much already it is worth it's weight in gold.

I made the porridge in the flask because I buy microwave stuff. It takes 2 mins to make, should I have put it in for another couple of mins after it was made?0 -
Try microwaving water in the flask before you cook the porridge. That way it should get heated enough when you then heat the porridge in it.
I've found it has a useful 'life' of about 3 hours for jacket spuds, before it becomes more of a warm snack (but perfect that way for summer lunches). I think that part of the problem is the air around the potato, so I'm going to fill the gaps with something next time (possibly a small tea towel) and see how it fares.I have no signature.0 -
i think i might write to alladin and ask for commission:rotfl:
