    Evening folks

Pleased to read your M & G went well LW

Happy Birthday wishes Iona for your DGS4 tomorrow

Totally agree with the comments ATB. It's your life, your family and your degree. How you organise your own life is up to you and imo I think the bringing up of children is one of the most important roles you can undertake.

I used to volunteer with help for reading HB and was always impressed by how hard some people tried to improve. One of those I worked with was a young lady with children, who wanted to be able to read to her children and help with their h/w. She did progress to reading to her children and was presented with an award for achievement. Unfortunately she passed due to C and it upset me too much after that to continue.

    Dailies and Spanish lesson done
    Bathroom all sparkly
All recycling sorted and put out ready to take to centre tomorrow
Paid bill on phone via auto system
Paid cc due next week online
Pulled out cases and sorted regular holibobs gubbins
Informed banks of holibob so card payments not blocked
Double-checked all paperwork, telephone nos etc for holibobs
My stuff is stacked ready to pack

Persuaded DH to clean the balcony windows and door after the wind and weather - looked like we had net curtains up on the outside:rotfl:

If it's gone I've done it or we don't have one

Magnificent Monday - Kitchen and dining room
    Clean oven

    Triffic TuesdayBathroom blitz....

    Wednesday - Beautiful Bedroom
    strip the bed
    make bed

Thursday look after the lounge day
Open windows and let in fresh air
    Extras
    s&s bathrooms, kitchen
Challenge work - use your MAD half hour

Sticks and spoons if you need some
Hope you all have a super Friday

Other peoples children are like dogs.. I don't want anything bad to happen to them but I don't want them either.. but if it came to it I would risk my life to save theirs.

But my dogs are my fur babies. They are family, not just pets. I love all dogs, but not all children.

Weak flapping achieved today, so must try harder tomorrow...Beford beckons...night night x

So sorry I've not been in for ages, I hope everyone is as well as can be.
I'm now working all hours god sends or it feels like it.
I'm fitting in flying where I can
Ds1 has finally got round to releasing a single on his fb page that has made me incredibly prouder than usual of him and total mum bias but I do think it's rather good.
My dad had a major health scare at the beginning of the week but thankfully seems ok now.
Still decluttering ds2 decided to get rid of his double bed as it filled the room so he sold that and got a cabin bed with storage so his room is starting to look tidy.
Mil is still well and I'm trying to keep on top of her cleaning as well as my own.

I'll try and pop in o er the weekend for a catch-up read to see what everyone is up to. Hugs and good wishes for all who need them.

    Morning

Thoughts on the thread: I have one brother who's 11 months younger than me and who drove me to distraction when we were growing up; I would have loved to have been an only child! Having said that my dream was to get married and have 5 sons - reality being what it is I didn't get married and had 1 son - plus 5 godsons and a goddaughter :D Choices are made, life happens, we all play with the hand we're dealt in our own way - and if other people don't like it - tough says I ;) (Then go home and cry 'cause I'm a numbnut :D)

Flying: tonight I'll clean the landing window and sill - which is one of the few unladen horizontal surfaces to be found in this house!

Just got to get through the paid stuff today and then it's the weekend - woot woot :T

Have a good day ladies xx

Spent two and a half hours helping an 85 year old man learn to read which I wouldn't normally do, but the manager was doing some training. He's very severely dyslexic and what he needed from me was very clearly explained to me and he said it was fine if I did the session with him. I think I must have got it right because he stretched it out to two and a half hours telling stories. Nice man, utterly determined to learn to read. The things we take for granted.

Good for you. It is such a shame that the funding for adult literacy/numeracy which was so plentiful in the 1980s has dwindled to zilch. I loved being an adult literacy tutor, especially as attached to a community college I got to teach in places as disparate as the army and probation.

You get just as much rudery if you don't choose to have them. If I had a fiver for every time I was asked if I'd considered fertility treatment.....

ATB it sounds to me like he needs something useful to spend his time and energy on, not go around making judgmental remarks to other people.

It's amazing how some people feel that if you aren't following their path in life, you're doing something wrong. Mr N and I also chose not to have a family and have often debated with people who call us selfish to throw back at them that if selfish is doing what you want, surely they are just as selfish having a child because they want one. Different choices; neither are right or wrong.

I also got amazed comments when, in my late 30's/early 40's I chose to work part time. I had worked hard, saved, didn't have a particularly expensive lifestyle and wanted to spend time on my hobbies - one of which had started as voluntary work teaching and has eventually ended up being my 2nd career.

Enough ranting, other than having my usual retort to people commenting on our lifestyle/holidays "oh yes we've been really lucky to pay off our mortgage: it only involved 2 factors - one Mr N was nearly killed (and still has complications) by an idiot driver in a road accident so we got compensation; secondly I got made redundant. Yeah, that's really lucky." We just all try and deal with what is thrown us in life.

And on the flying front, the last 2 days have been uni so I now have 2 reports to write.
    - washing done x 2
    - private work enquiries replied to
    - bird feeders filled

This evening I've got a Clubbercise Masterclass which apparently is 1hr 20 of dance followed by prosecco, sushi and strawberries! Not sure how that will contribute to slinkiness, on which front I won't comment as it is too depressing. Having set my target for the Park Run before my 60th, it is getting horribly close and I'm booked up for various weekends between now and then. It may have to be Easter Saturday and accept that I may need to walk some of it, which will be disappointing as my training was going so well before December.

Yep, same here - I no longer have my own dog (she passed in 2002 and I still miss her) but I have real love for ALL the canines who cross my threshold. It's like I've said so many times, Horses For Courses - you do what you believe is right for you. Hellfire, I couldn't relate to children when I was one, so I've no chance now!! :rotfl:

Anyways - Sort of Flying (in the "outdoor room" iyswim) Mr LW is picking up the bits of branch that have blown off the hedge into the back garden, and is hoovering the lawn, ready for Lizzie's arrival tomorrow. We need to empty all the room waste bins too, as she's a Grade A Bin Diver, and will investigate the contents.
This will be Lizzie's 6th stay with us (she has her Frequent Flyer badge now :D ); we first met her in August 2013, and she has grown up into a very lovely dog, but she still has the typical Spaniel [STRIKE]nosiness[/STRIKE] curiosity.

ETA Oh poo, it's just started raining, so cutting the lawn will have to wait (electric mower).
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Interesting comments about life choices. My job will change at some point over the next couple of years and when it does I have vowed to do what I want to do, not what I feel that I should do (or what others expect me to do!).

After a couple of shaky days (literally) on the anxiety front I am feeling much better today - helped by surprising myself at the gym this morning when I discovered that I could lift a heavier weight than I thought I could.

Paid stuff no 1 done, a little careful shopping. DW on, WM on, more paid stuff next. Just having a delightful (!) green smoothie but have got a cup of tea lined up to wash it down.

    Right, invoices to process x

You are missed Mrs MP, and we're looking forward to you being able to post again when life calms down a bit.

Sorry you lost your student, Lynne and thank you to both you and Narco for being supportive. I'm well underqualified to claim any expertise but he seemed happy with what we achieved. The gentleman being 85 some might think it's not worth it, but he can't wait to read books! He's been patched up by the NHS several times (bypass surgery etc etc) and he's waiting for a knee replacement, but he'll get there. I hope I'm as energetic and ready to learn something challenging when I'm his age.

My list today is a bit of a monster:
    - trim beef ribs and freeze
    - [STRIKE]wash carpet outside shower room
    - bed away
    - make slightly froggie phone call
    - laundry away[/STRIKE]
    - brush out dags from Kelpie's trousers
    - finish desiliconing the bath
    - seal the bath
    - swish and swipe shower room
    - wash shower room floor
    - quick check of letting rooms and turn radiator up
    - finish vacuumming lower stairs and landing
    - [STRIKE]re-mealplan
    - refill pill boxes
    [/STRIKE]- speaker from attic
    - Milly Molly Mandy[STRIKE]
    - bank reconciliation
    - refill bird pots
    - water new plants[/STRIKE]
    Better is good enough.
