I think it might be the influence of this place re Christmas - I never start looking at anything before the start of December, but I have started to sort out a few bits and pieces already! Refuse to wrap before about 20th December though, I like to attempt to get into the spirit with an evening of it.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Hiya! Just switched the laptop on, had a *lovely* day with my sister - very much in tune with me about finances - she nad her OH are in a better position than me financially, but of course no-one's safe in this environment at the moment ...
The thing about getting everything wrapped now - its that I don't actually *like* wrapping! Except I've done it with a toddler present, and a cat, and then its quite fun. For me, the spirit of Christmas is more plenty of time to decorate the tree (i.e. with a drink of wine!) I'm absolutely terrible at buying presents usually - I want to spend loads, and can't, so it feels rubbish.
Anyway, today was excellent. My sister has the same ideas as me about money, as does her OH, and it was great to talk it all through.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Ooh, Tea, are you sure? I sell a fair few CDs on amazon, I have so many still to get rid of, that would be great.
Of course I'm sure, they're yours. P.m your address and I'll dig them out and pop them in the post to you, won't be until tomorrow tough if you don't mind waiting?
That was supposed to say though not tough...lol0 -
Will do! :money: Thanks again!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Right, pm is sent, coffee is downed, whats my list today??
- email my sister about how great yesterday was ... and unfortunately let her know that I left my diary at her house. As a self employed person, this is like slitting my own throat in slow motion, so thats not good! done
- got 3 clients today, spread out but not planning on going out anyway.
- I just won £1.50 on the scratches! done when I wrote it!
- fund my tradefair account - I'm looking at doing a trade today. done, had to ring them.
- get my printer going - new chart of squares to aim for done, two mystery shops to do tomorrow morning, receipt for a client done, add a bit to my trading plan, print bits out of the accounts ready for submission done.
- would be lovely to finish my accounts today....
EDIT - Tea, I read the "tough" properly in the end, what a funny one!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Nice when you get days like that. There are five of us, and i have to mediate with them all at Christmas as they all ring up and then organise families around..i think it is because i live in the same house i grew up in! plus it must be my bossy older sister tendencies.
I enjoy the Christmas tree as well. I have had the same decs for a few years and have no intention of changing them because it looks so nice..i can sit and stare at it for hours. Can't wait for to put it up now.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

I'm the older sister, but my *younger* sister is much bossier than me - probably because she had to compete harder to get our older brother's attention!
I love my Christmas tree. :xmastree: I had to prune an ash tree in my back garden, so its actually seven feet of ash tree, sprayed gold, with the paint renewed each year as necessary. I buy one or two new hanging decorations every year - this year I bought them in Germany, back in March! But I also have a very few tiny little coloured balls from my childhood.
Tinsel overwhelms the tree, its too thick, so with the deccies and the strings of beads and lights, it looks like a fairy tree has come down to earth. My mum saw it last year, when we came back here after seeing the Christmas production at the local theatre, and she was sort of shocked, tho in a very good way, at how it looked - she's very artistic in her own way, but she's never seen it in me, for all that *I* think I am :rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Glad to hear you had such a nice day yesterday
And it's great that you can talk to people with a similar view on money - aside from us lot of course!
It's funny, I like decorating the tree when I get to my parents' house, but I don't bother with one at home.
Edited to add - your tree sounds lovely though, I could almost be inspired...Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Thanks! I used to decorate more - partly to watch the cats go at it all! - but now its *just* the tree. I find that if I don't have something festive at home, I feel a bit "out of it" all, specially with not having any little kids around at the moment - the kids of ten years ago that friends had are now in their teens and twenties, and off doing their own thing, of course. And I love the glow - I have a string of red lights, and a string of white, and when I switch off the living room lights, its completely magical. You realise I'm just a big kid, don't you? :rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0
