The best option is a Virgin Money Essential Current Account.

Why? This will link them financially on their credit files which is exactly what the OP wants to avoid, so I'm not sure why it would be the best option?

Agree with earlier suggestions - credit card with an additional cardholder may be a sensible solution.

How your financial links affect your credit. Webb says there are many misconceptions about financial links and credit reports. "If you are the main cardholder on a credit card account and you add another cardholder to your account, that does not create a financial association," he says. "There are only really two ways that you can be linked financially: either by opening a joint bank account, or making a joint application for credit (for example, a loan or mortgage)."

At least one credit card provider is known to create an association when you add their details to your application (to strengthen your case due to their additional income), let alone get them an additional card.

Where did I say a particular type of account is the best option? Quote and link please.

Whichever bank they go to they will be linked if they get a joint account and not linked if they get single accounts. But that's assuming they are not already linked !

No, no, no. I'll say that again: No, no, no. The best option is a Virgin Money Essential Current Account. It's a basic bank account without the restriction of only being allowed one if you don't bank elsewhere and allows up to 3 accounts and a joint account.

BUT there needs to be a Virgin Money Store within striking distance because the account has to be opened in a Store.

They've already clarified that they aren't linked as they have no joint financial products.

Others have offered solutions that would solve the problem of them being linked.

I pointed to the account not the type of account which you do in fact quote. i.e. a Virgin Money Essential Current Account.

ROFL you yet again exhibit both your lack of comprehension skills and your lack of knowledge of the subject. i.e. several bank accounts are available as a single or joint accounts but you probably wouldn't know that. I would say give up while you're ahead but you're way behind !

You do realise that you are the only person who actually thinks that you are right about any of this, don't you?

When you have become the butt of other people's jokes it is a good time to stop and take stock of the drivel you have been posting.

    Good luck!

Oh, and who is making personal attacks now? Hypocrite.

Forgot to mention that CashPlus (the account I mentioned earlier) don't report to CRAs unless you pay extra, so no financial link.

Just a small aside and then we can get back to the topic. Well, actually topics in the plural because this thread has been hijacked a few times.

Valiantson, why is it necessary for you to post that? i.e. does my welfare concern you? Why do you resort to personal attack instead of contributing to the discussion? Do you find doing that in some way entertaining at the expense of the victim?

Personally I don't take exception to your posts and I'm flattered that you find me so interesting that you need to follow me around this forum. Do have a nice day.

    Back to the topic.

    Back to the topic.

You keep posting incorrect information. When others correct you and show evidence to prove the point you argue about it and insist you are right. You have become the butt of people's jokes in some threads that I have seen. You ought to take note of that.

I have contributed substantially to the discussion, but you don't like what I have contributed because it doesn't fit with your erroneous viewpoint. I have posted evidence to support what I have said (and to disprove your errors). This is taking part in the discussion. You just don't like that you are wrong.

You have also behaved hypocritically by claiming (incorrectly) that I have made personal attacks on you and then doing so to me. You suggested that I lack basic reading comprehension skills and intellect (my academic qualifications and profession would suggest otherwise, by the way). This is a personal attack, of which you frequently opine that you have been subjected to.

I don't follow you around the forum. I read and contribute to threads, some of which you have also contributed to (or will contribute to). If you say something that is wrong then I will pick it up.
