Problems with landlord

We have just had a nice lunch in a toasty warm hotel followed by a session in the spa. 3 huge adjoining spa pools with jets massaging every bit of you. We will be popping home to check on things then back for nice 3 course dinner.
So, what's actually happened? Did he refuse to turn the water back on? Have you informed the council or the police if so?0 -
Let's hope it's a one-off (so not showing off with the apostrophes that work on a steam-driven computer
) It seems MurphyBear has had other issues with this land[STRIKE]lord[/STRIKE]moron.
MurphyBear, please let us know you are OK and have somewhere to sleep with a source of water, be it your home or a hotel. If the latter, I hope you keep the receipt because it seems you have a centipede's worth of legs to stand on, legally.0 -
Thanks again for the comments, some of them made me laugh.
OH and I are comfortably ensconced in the spa hotel. As it is only 5 miles from the farm we went back to make sure everything was OK. House was lovely and warm, no leaks. Still no water. Note from Ll saying he didn!!!8217;t want to go into the house without us, completely contradicted what he said this morning when he said he had a right. We told him he was welcome to go in, we!!!8217;ve nothing to hide .
Update. I had an email from Environmental Health after only a few hours, asking for LLs contact details. I sent them all the details, they will talk to him.
We were planning on a visit to this hotel next week, had money set aside, so we just brought it forward.
Time for 3 course dinner, bye all0 -
Did you change the locks? Bet the LL let himself in whilst you're at the hotel!0

Help
We have just come back from the house. There were no problems and house was warm.
LL suddenly appeared and I don!!!8217;t wish to give details but things got really bad with shouting on both sides. When I tried to explain cutting off the water was harrassment which is a criminal offence he shouted over me and said it wasn!!!8217;t. He said he had checked with his solicitor and he was correct. The reason given was that it was a private supply that belonged to him and he could do what he liked.
When I spoke to Shelter they said that was irrelevant. I don!!!8217;t understand how he or his solicitor could say that him owning the water takes away the tenants legal rights
He eventually said he would turn the water back on after checking that were no leaks. Not sure how he could do this without turning the water back on.
Thanks again for reading, it makes me feel better to be able to post this0 -
So are you staying put in the hotel? I hope so as it sounded rather lovely!
The LL sounds awful. One of life's bullies I suspect and I am sorry you are going through this. Is your deposit protected properly in the scheme? I am worried you won't get it back if it isn't.
Is he letting it again once you leave? It shouldn't be allowed.0 -

The solicitors are unlikely to be experts in tenancy law.0 -

One suspects he's been speaking to his imaginary friend not his solicitor!Zebras rock0 -
Have you reported this to the police and the council or not?0
-
He is absolutely full of it. I strongly recommend you report him to the police, the EH and to Shelter. Who knows, maybe he will be prevented from being a LL. Apparently, it can happen in decent areas (so not here!)0
