Hope you are feeling ok today @Foxgloves.I too am jealous of your £10 hair cut. Salons here charge £25 for a dry cut, which in my case is only ever a quick trim of the ends.3

Thanks for your concern & healing vibes.....as well as stories of similar accidents. At least I know I'm in good company. Some things have improved since yesterday. My knee & elbow are not as sore & I'm no longer limping, but overall I feel stiffer. My ribs are sore when I cough or laugh and I obviously pulled my shoulders & neck as they have stiffened up. Thanks for the reminder about arnica. I do like herbal remedies & I used to use it years ago. I bought some this morning for the bruising.
@Humdinger1 - Lol. That m'dear was pure class (Not!!)
@Baileys_Babe - I always freeze my mince pies ready baked & just warm them through in foil, but I can't see why they couldn't be frozen ready to bake in their raw state. Oh, @Sayschezza says it's fine. I'm with Sayschezza on this.
@DawnW & @Tescodealqueen - I am amazed that my little salon can still offer hair cuts at £10, as other local salons do charge much more like the price you mentioned, DawnW. All dry cuts cost £10 at my favourite salon, unless a significant re-style is required. It suits me, not just the price, but the quickness, as I like to be in & out. She straightens my hair swiftly so she can see the cutting line (I have a graduated bob which is longer at the front) , then cuts it & puts my layers in. Mr F pays more at the barber's than that & I have oodles more hair than him. I mentioned their excellent prices while I was there & my stylist said that when they set up the business they were keen to set prices at the sort of level they'd all want to pay, so I suppose as they always seem to be very busy, they've kind of stuck to that overall ethos.

Hello Saturday Savers,
I've been out today as it seemed pointless me sitting around all day stiffening up even more, so we went to the local Christmas Tree Festival as planned. a very low-spend event indeed & so pretty & heart warming.
Did not visit coffee shop despite my tongue hanging out for a shot of caffiene - we bough a couple of little treats from our local bakery & ate them with coffee at home, which must have saved around £3 each.
Took our Christmas grocery list to the C**p & bought as much as possible from it using our dividend points. We've already done this with our nectar points & it's been very useful for reducing costs. Dropped off empty pet food pouches while we were there. We do recycle our stretchy plastic bags at their collection point, but I had no idea until last week that they also take crisp bags & washed-out pet food pouches.
Checked for surveys - only one, but a reasonably worthwhile payer.
Corrected December's budget as there were a couple of entries which I estimated & for which I now know the actual price - as this is a spendy month, I am staying on point with keeping it as accurate & updates as possible,
Entered 3 competitions.
Shopped a new soap dish from home. Have been looking for one for ages, but seen nothing I like enough to pay for, so decided to use a pretty crescent-shaped dish which has been languishing in a cupboard for ages, It fits really nicely on the corner of the bath.
Tonight I'll be knitting, reading or both and probably watching a film. Talking of films, @Sun_Addict, I was horrified last night when I mentioned that it would soon be time for 'Love actually' & Mr F said he was sure I didn't have it any longer because I'd added it to the box of stuff I'd sold to z*ffit!!!!! He wasn't joking, either. He was adamant that this is what I had done, and I did sell a boxful to them earlier this year, so started worrying that I'd had some kind of festive film-based aberration. In the end, he went upstairs to check & found it. Probably much more likely that he asked me if I wanted to add it to my box of trades & I said 'No'.
Hoping to feel less stiff tomorrow, but I think it might take a few days with me going over with such a slam. I shall aim to take it easy tomorrow.
Enjoy your evenings, all.

Yup @foxgloves my story of headlong descent into the gutter to be rescued by kindly tramps is indeed pure class, at least for the tramps..mind you, thirty years on, I managed to bounce off exuberantly stuffed pillows onto a metal bed frame yesterday morning while trying to answer a call. I thought I'd look like I'd been in a fight as landed on my lips and chin (how?!) but luckily OK so far. Tough as old boots, plainly. Onwards and upwards love Humdinger xx4

@foxgloves thank goodness for that! It’s on TV one night next week but 9pm start which is far too late for me 🤣 I have a DVD copy and also bought it on Prime when I couldn’t get the DVD player to pair up with the TV, so I have all bases covered 😆I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

Thanks @foxgloves and @Sayschezza for the help with the mince pies.
Glad to hear you are healing, just don't over do it.

Hope you are feeling a little better after yr tumble, I’ve had that experience and it’s amazing how much your muscles ache. Hope it has not affected your knitting muscles and you can relax and do some knitting. Xx3

Thanks, @marionmgcars - That is certainly today's plan, then hopefully I shall feel less achey tomorrow.

Morning Campers!
Well, after a lazy day yesterday when I was resting my aches & pains (now much improved), I need to have a much more productive day. I intend to tackle the following:
*Regular Monday morning budget updates*Rubber pork, as I am aiming for another 3 lots of meals from it.
*Make & freeze Christmas red cabbage (Delia).
*Prep, cook & freeze chestnuts.
*Keep jiffling around with laun dry on heated airer to minimise the time it's on. I've run it overnight so nearly dry.
*Usual surveys & need to cash out another £10 voucher from i-say which will be stashed as 'turkey tokens' so will also credit Dec's budget.
*Pick up & knit thumb - then these complicated mittens will finally be finished! Even the thumb has a different pattern front & back!
*Defrost some fruit from the freezer - I need the space, but it's also noticeable how eating up our stewed homegrown fruit has been cutting our spend on fresh stuff recently.
*Strain & bottle this year's blackberry & pear gin.
And I do want all of the above finished today, so I must hie me away to the kitchen, crank up my current audiobook & get cracking.
Wishing everyone a peaceful & productive week,
