Hello foxgloves. I'm also thinking about financial focus as I'm guilty of making declarations of change and then forgetting what I said. So I want to go back to new year resolutions and a word/statement for the year.
I hope you had a great time in Norfolk. It's such a beautiful place.Debt on 01 July 2022 = £42,083.00

I too have been thinking about our financial plans for next year. I think I need to mull it over for a few more days before putting pen to paper.
I'm also considering goals and plans for myself, the garden and the house.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Thanks for all your replies - I'm glad it's not just me feeling the lure of those crisp new diary pages & being able to fill them with New Year plans. I think I'll continue mulling a few financial things over, but leave any actual planning till January.
@DaisyCheerings - Yes, we did v much enjoy our week in Norfolk, thanks. We've stayed there often but have decided to head North for next year's holiday - still near the sea though.

Hello Frugalistas,
Well today's post is coming to you from a very bruised & battered frugal sister. Was making great headway with my very budget-conscious list in town & was just walking to the salon for my hair appointment when I caught the tip of my DM sole on an uneven paving stone & absolutely went flying. I hit the slabs full length on my front with such a bang, I don't know how I managed not to break any ribs. .....probably saved by the ample Foxgloves chest! Don't you feel like an absolute yoghurt when you trip & spectacularly fall in full public view? Three elderly people rushed to scrape me off the pavement.. One wanted to call an ambulance, another was just heading into the bank to fetch me a chair & I was just saying 'Please just leave me on the floor for a minute so I can assess if I'm injured'. I felt I was going to be v bruised but ok so they helped me up & stayed with me till I'd phoned Mr F who was in town, but not with me. Felt wobbly & nearly cancelled my haircut but went ahead with it because I needed to sit down. One knee & elbow bruised & cut, ribs, one thigh & hands sore & achey all over. I bet I'm a joy to live with tomorrow!
Despite this, I did feel there were a few money saving wins: Supermarket shopping came in under budget despite ridiculous price rises, we were allowed to choose £10 of free stuff from our market butcher (full loyalty card) so we got 3 packs of sausage meat for Christmas & a pack of BBQ chicken thighs for tonight. I was also surprised that a hair cut still costs only £10 at my salon.....she does a lovely cut. A local farm also had a stall on the market this morning so we were able to get a decent big bag of veg for £7.
Have spent this afternoon on the sofa knitting. Soot is looking after his bashed Meowmy. I don't know where Ash is but he enjoyed his fishy stink dinner.

Oh no! So sorry to hear about your fall. Glad you were rescued and don't seem to have done any permanent damage, and hope you don't feel too sore tomorrow...6

Oh no, hope you aren't in too much pain and don't get too many bruises. Make sure you haven't damaged any ribs. When I had a trip last year, I managed to break my shoulder spectacularly. Have a rest over the weekend and take it easy. Sending healing hugs. xMaking the debt go down and savings go up

Oh dear Foxgloves hope you feel much better tomorrow, have you any arnica it is really good for bruises. I know what you mean about just sitting and gathering yourself, my first thought is is anything broken, my dear mom had osteoporosis and broke both hips.
Yesterday my little dog had her booster jab £50 yes £50 I was so shocked, last year it was £39.42 that is some price rise I commented to the vet that it was very quiet he said he thought it was Christmas or perhaps the cost of living starting to bite I said at that price it had already bitten!! Have a lovely weekend, cuddle up, nurse those bruises and attack your other mitten x6 -
Thanks both of you - I think I'll be very sore tomorrow, but I know it could have been worse, as your experience shows, @Makingabobor2. I was very lucky not to bash my face too.

Thanks, @FourSeasons..Yes these vet bills add up, don't they?
I have knitted a panel of that 2nd mitten this afternoon (about all I was fit for!). & have fastened in the next colour ready for tomorrow's effort. They really do need to be finished.

Sorry to hear about your fall, hope you’re not too sore. Reminds me of a few years ago when I fell up the stairs in M&S when I caught the pointed toe of my boots in the hem of my boot cut trousers. I was Christmas shopping and had several bags, fell completely flat on my face. I was hoisted back up by passers by, it was so embarrassing 🙈I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5
