Gosh what a lot to read this evening. I used to work for a government funded charitable trust (not sure how that worked) for people with learning disabilities who had been in the large hospitals. This was when the Mr T clubcard came into existence and we were told that if we used our personal card at all for house shopping we would be sacked for theft. Yet every March any money left in budgets would be spent regardless of need or the budget for the next year would be cut. I never did see the logic. With regard to Boris I really worry about whoever takes over as the choice seem to be someone who has been proved to lie and ignore the rules he made , someone who retained a green card while serving at high level in the UK government and whose wife appears to think she will be going back to her home country to live or someone who although has been in government positions has never as far as I can see held a senior ministers post. What annoys me more than anything is the way that they have made the UK look ridiculous in the eyes of the world.

We'll look even more ridiculous if Boris does get in... and then has to resign again when found guilty of lying to the House of Commons! The MPs voting for him should be ashamed of themselves, but, like Boris, I don't think they know the meaning of the word shame.I Believe.....

It’s getting more and more like Trumps return to power efforts by the day.
I can’t help thinking Foxgolves your turkey is going to be the size of an albatross with all your vouchers3 -
Evening Frugalistas, I agree with all your comments about the current mess.....I am wondering if support for the Crumpled Saviour among MPs isn't looking quite as massive as he thought it might be. Time will tell. I just want a GE to end these shabby chapters of self-interested chaos & begin a stabilisation period, so that we can all feel at least a little more secure in what our finances will be doing. Looking after all of us, is after all, supposed to be the point of government.
Oh.....& I don't know about an albatross, we could only specify ball-park sort of turkey size. If the one we are given is at the top end of the weight possibilities advertised, then it's going to be more like a blimming emu! Never mind, absolutely nothing will be wasted & I always think it is the best home made stock of the year.
Today has done me good.....not the 80-mile drive in appalling rain (full beam & fog lights)....but seeing my sister, b-in-l & nephew. We met at a nice garden centre cafe reasonably equidistant between us & London. I have so very little family & don't see them often because of distance, so it was really nice to have a catch-up before exploring the glittery (rather hairy gnome-laden!) Christmas department. I did buy a cappucino & cheese scone, but did not succumb to temptation with decorations, as I already have so many. My sis chose a sweet little pudding bauble, & my nephew, who despite being 15 now, still wanted to choose one, as he has done every year since he was a toddler. He chose a bright red glitter T-rex!!! My sister said "There's no way that's going on the tree unless you buy it with your own money"- Naturally it went back on the shelf pretty speedily!
Did a bit of planning. My sis had already bought napkins, crackers & a festive scented candle, which she gave me to bring back with us, & she is also going to make the Christmas pudding & bring some wine. Was still in planning mode when we got home, so synchronised diaries with Mr F for the week ahead. It's his cooking night - he's making chilli & has used a lb of use-it-up home grown tomatoes instead of a tin, as they do need using up & I don't want to waste them.
I'm going to spend an hour tonight setting myself up for a productive day tomorrow.....sorting laundry into washer, getting it on timer, & finding the bits I need for tomorrow morning's weekly budget updates & other tasks. The heating is still not coming on much at all......just first thing in the morning at 6am, then the temperature has barely fallen back again all month, so our recent statement from the Tentacled Ones was ok.....though as the billing period straddled the pre & post price rise periods, I could see how costs have risen.
Wishing everyone a peaceful Sunday evening.

Its lovely catching up with family isn't it. I know how you must feel, my Sister & DN2 are 150mls away, as is my dad. DN1 & family about 100miles. DS & D-I-L about 70miles. At least DD & family only live local. Wasn't the best day for driving was it? Glad you stayed safe and had a good time.Making the debt go down and savings go up

Still amazing how the politics of your country sound so much like the US. The comments would fit either one right now. Scary isn't it how people seem to have lost all common sense. Maybe it is the sun spots or something in the rain water.3

Boris had his chance and blew it!!
Once a liar always a liar never to be trusted again.
The rest of them are behaving typically of group thinking muppets with no backbone of honesty or integrity.
Whatever happens to them, I too, have absolutely no sympathy.
MP's are supposed to be there for us, not themselves. GE is definitely required.Anything is better than nothing-check back and see

It feels very much as though even up to the point he said he wasn't standing Boris was STILL lying through his teeth - as I gather no matter how hard they tried the various news outlets were struggling to find any more than 60 MP's maximum who had publicly said they'd support him. I'm certainly very glad that ours didn't! So his blustering that "of course he could have stood as he had the support" seemed to be so much more hot air.
Glad you had a lovely day with family Foxgloves - is the meeting up at a mid-point something you do more now than you would have done pre-Covid? I'm curious as I've heard a number of people saying that doing that sort of thing during the times when getting together in people's homes wasn't allowed, and they found it worked for them so have carried on doing it.
You have also reminded me that I could do with deciding when in the month I want to see our Tentacled bill - as I believe that informs when I want to give my meter reading. End of the month "ish" probably seems sensible - it means this first one will be a slightly short month but at least from there it should be within a day or so each time, depending on me remembering to do the readings at the right time of course!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
