@Kantankrus_Mare - It must have been an enormous relief for you. I think we all try to think positive when awaiting any kind of scan results, but there's always that horrible underlying worry & it can become difficult to concentrate properly on anything else. Always nice to hear people's good news.

Morning Diary Readers, Am trying to keep myself well-occupied this morning to quell mounting dentist stress. There's not even any treatment today - just a consultation, but it's a surgery I've never visited before, on the far side of the city centre so a 34-mile round trip. Ah well, needs must.
Thanks for all your comments on the newspaper article. It certainly got people talking, as there were some letters in response to it on their website yesterday.
I think the overall problem is that it wasn't awfully well written. I read it again & could see that it can be interpreted in two ways, as well as somewhere in the middle. I think the writer's intention probably was to highlight the difference between people who have the choice whether or not to be frugal & those who are genuinely living hand-to-mouth, but I think the more rambly bits weakened the argument. I did feel as though people's choice to live a greener, more sustainable lifestyle was being challenged & think the problem is really that there were probably 2 articles' worth of material here woffled into one, as the two subjects are both highly relevant to the current economic/environmental situation.
Well, I've been awake since 4.20am. Was just starting to drop off again when we had thunder & lightning. I've a few things I want to get done before going out, so must crack on.

Please can someone explain to me how Johnson can be in the running for PM when we are still effectively looking for his replacement? It doesn’t feel like it should be allowed under the rules….
Good luck with the dentist. I hate going to the dentist myself, although I really need to sort out having a tooth out and stop putting it off 😬. Absolutely no reason for my fear either as I’ve never had a bad experience and my dentists have all been lovely. It’s completely irrational for me!2025 decluttering: 4,011 🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅🌟

@QueenJess and he is under investigation for misleading Parliament. If found guilty he will be required to resign...unless he dismantles the Ministerial Code which is always possible. He was kicked out by his own MPs 6 weeks ago...5

The Conservatives are polling so badly (for very good reason) that the ONLY thing many of them are bothered about is saving their jobs. They all know exactly what Johnson is, but their own political survival is of greater importance than all the country's current problems rolled together. To stage a comeback when the official enquiry into his repeated lying to parliament is still underway ...... well, the man has no shame.....politically, he is a talent-vacuum. What's he doing on holiday in the Caribbean? Parliament is currently sitting. He should therefore be there, working, representing his Uxbridge constituents. Having no written constitution or formal rules just enables poor behaviour.
Time for a change.....for both our sanity & our wallets.

It’s an absolute joke….we must be a laughingstock the way the politicians are behaving 😡…..and whilst everyone is thinking about a new PM nothing is being done to ease the current state of the country. Rant over 😏
Hope the dentist went ok for you 🤞January spends - £587.585 -
I agree, @milann. It feels as though we are a joke country now. So many economic problems to solve, while at Westminster, the circus continues.
Re dentist. It was fine, thanks. It wasn't my usual dentist. It was the practice to which he referred me for a consultation about some implant work. It is going to involve expense. It's a good job I've saved money into our Dentist & Optician Pot in anticipation since I had that very naughty tooth extracted back in January Am now awaiting letter with recommended plan of work & a breakdown of costs.

Unfortunately the UK is not only a joke with other countries with all the nonsense going on but also with institutions like the IMF and various credit rating agencies such as Moodys. The whole shebang reminds me of "On this day in 1967, Harold Wilson went on television to reassure viewers that the “pound in the pocket” would be unaffected by the devaluation of sterling. In 1967, Britain suffered a balance of payments crisis, spending (importing) more than it was earning (exporting). That made it crucial to keep the pound strong."For those of you too young to remember the £ in our pockets was massively affected as inflation went nuts. Remind anyone of anything."As the Chinese curse goes we live in intersting times"6
