We always fill our garden waste bin to the brim. Definitely worth the £38 a year.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

Hi foxgloves & friends
I have had a lovely day out courtesy of DD1 and her boyfr. I did buy myself a pasty and a cuppa tea while out and bought lunch for DD1 but this was less than a tenner. Even so, next time we go to that place we are going to take a picnic . We did save money by not going on the miniature railway - that was a money saving decision not due to the fact that all the other passengers had a small child with them and we didn't have one
I am having leftovers for tea supplemented by a few veg I had in my fridge including a wrinkled half a parsnip which is now roasting in the oven after i peeled all the wrinkly bits off. I have also used the compostible packing that came on my NT mag for my food waste bin - as per their suggestion.
I have a candle lit in the front room and have not put the lights on yet - all helps...
love Deni x

Oooh, you're in an expensive part of the county, @Sun_Addict....our garden waste bin is £35. I'm sure it will go up when they hear that nearby councils are charging £3 more though!

@Deni_debt-free_dreamer - That sounds like a lovely day. I must admit that we don't always take a picnic on our outings, but when we do, it is noticeable what a saving it can be.
I think having a candle lit on an evening does psychologically make me feel warmer. Agree every little helps.

Evening m'dears,
Achieved a reasonable amount today despite having builders here all day. Did 2 loads of laundry at 30° & pegged it out for free drying. Did my regular Monday morning budget updates, moved some funds around to keep various savings pots straight, paid a couple of items off 'just for points' credit cards, updated 3 spreadsheets & did a bit of general admin & filing.
Still no rain by the afternoon, so had a useful garden session doing some planting & the ongoing job of bindweed removal. Also picked a bundle of chard for stir-frying with garlic.
Lunch & dinner involved using up Easter leftovers.
Chillier this evening. Have put extra socks on & fetched one of Mum's handmade blankets. No way am I lighting the stove when I can see on the smart monitor how much our gas use has dropped since switching off the heating!

Our green waste bin costs £50. 19 collections spring to autumn and 3 during the winter - it was £40 last year. FS x5

Our green bins are £40. We dont have one as we pass the road to the recycling centre on our way shopping so that save us money.

Ours is comparatively cheap looking at the above comments 😱 Interesting that our council have normally billed us by now, makes me wonder if prices are rising.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5
