They'll soon get used to their new surroundings once they realise it's a safe haven for them.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

@Sun_Addict - I hope so.
@Humdinger1 - I'm won't be disclosing their names as I like to maintain my anonymity on here.
Mr F has just gone out to de-ice the car. I'm intending to have a very calm gentle day so that the cats are not spooked & may feel more confident to emerge from their hiding places. A small amount of food has been eaten & both litter trays used, so they've clearly had a little wander overnight.
I've not had a brilliant night with my tooth & Mr F getting bad cramp in his shin, so a gentle day will suit me fine. I am so envious of people who can snooze during daytime as I never can, regardless of how tired I am.

@foxgloves understand re anonymity. Is it overstepping to suggest stage names for their appearances on here? Xx6

Good idea, my dogs and neddies have stage names.4

Stage names? I will think about it. After all, you do all know I'm not really called Foxgloves, don't you, lol?!
Not a no-spend day today. Oh no. £12 to get the microchip database details changed & 2 x adoption fees donated to the Cat Rescue. I don't begrudge a penny of that. They have unwanted cats pouring in & only the funds they raise themselves. I've also been researching pet insurers, as our cats have always been insured in the past. The best option for us is one with an ongoing loyalty card points bonus, as it was when our last dear fur friend was insured by them. Shall discuss it with Mr F later & progress it when we've made a final decision. Also emailed our vets to see if I can register both new boys with them online rather than visit in person, as there is still a lot of Covid around here. So quite a productive morning, if almost all of it cat-related. Hardly any food been eaten - I can see that one of them is a jelly-licker, just like our old boy, who was the world's worst for snarfing up every scrap of jelly, then rejecting the resulting dry boluses of meat, grrrr. Have pinged Mr F to ask him to pick up a selection of different food to try when he's in the supermarket later, & as I am intending to have tuna for lunch in a bit, I'll see if there is any interest in the newbies having a little taste of that. At least thinking about worried, nervous cats is taking the edge off my dentist concerns. Tooth not too painful today, but the nerve is still jumping & I am 99% certain that it will need to come out just like the one next to it which presented with exactly the same problem about 12 years ago.
I've also done a couple of surveys. It felt satisfying to cash out my Prolific earnings (just over £100) before Christmas (I haven't spent it, as I like that it is sitting in my Personal Spends in case I see anything I really like) - so I am aiming to build up a similar amount to cash out this December too, all being well. I have about £12 so far, but am waiting for today's payments & it does mount up once checking for surveys becomes a daily habit again.
OK, time to see if I can tempt these lovely new boys with a taste of tuna.

Hello F, I've never used our cat's real name on here. We don't use it ourselves that often although she does respond to it. We usually call her Fatso - mostly because her main aim in life is to acquire (through means fair or foul) human food. She is fed two different types of cat food because if she is only given the one that she likes she shovels it in so fast that reappearance the same way that it went in is usually a dead cert. I should probably mention at this point that she weighs 7lbs and the vet says she's in perfect health.
I hope that you have as much fun with your two new friends as we do with our small bundle of attitude wrapped in a fur coat. Good luck with getting an appointment to see the dentist tomorrow.6 -
@CRANKY40 - Agree that re-emergence of cat food is something to be avoided at all costs, lol. Cat puke is known as 'Mr F's job' in this house.

Morning Campers,
Thick frost here. Was woken not by tooth, but by someone scraping their car with an energy I'd certainly struggle to muster at 5am!
New cats will have 'stage names' of Soot & Ash for the purposes of my anonymous diary. Ash extremely timid, still living in linen cupboard, but doesn't mind strokes. Soot now charging around demanding fuss like someone who is very happy to have his own house again.
LFT first thing & got onto surgery for emergency dentist appt while it was cooking. Don't think I've ever been so relieved to secure an appointment as am a bit of a dentist-phobe tbh. Mr F's day off today & he's going to run me into the city so I don't bottle it.
Can't see it being a no-spend day but will settle for knowing tooth problems are being sorted.
Have a good day all.

Good luck at the dentists Foxglove - not my favourite place either but much better than being in pain.Did Soot & Ash try tuna yesterday? Sounds like Soot has settled quickly.6
-
Thanks @maggiem. Yes, they did! Soot not bothered about it, but Ash loved it & was practically taking it from my fingers, despite him being so scared & shy.
Dentist appt not till noon, so am going to do calming things between now & setting off. Think I will sew up some more blanket squares as I'd like to finish it this weekend.
