Thanks for all your comments, which I've enjoyed reading.
@CRANKY40 - Yes, our garden is also a swamp atm. I think I will start slowly, with just a manageable task or two each day when the weather is dry. I have October-sown sweetpea seedlings in the greenhouse, & my first veggie seeds of the new season (chillies) are usually sown on the last day of January, so I'm looking forward to that.
@Sun_Addict & @crazy_cat_lady - Thanks for the new cat wishes. We lost our dear old fur friend in Summer 2020 & just couldn't adopt another with all the disruptive work going on at home, not to mention workmen leaving doors open all over the place.
@Merryberry - Thanks for your nice comments about my diary & welcome. Yes, I think re shopping from home - we can get hung up on getting the cheapest/best deal, but often, if we think a bit more creatively, we don't need to buy the item at all. Maybe it's an item we do need to purchase in time, but we might have something that'll 'do the job' until we can budget for it properly.
@Blackcats - Yes, I think big spenders & unfinished projects often do go hand-in-hand. I've been terrible for this in the past, but much less so now. I'm certainly aiming to finish off 3 projects (including the ongoing sewing together) before starting anything significant. I also intend to hit my yarn stash for ideas first, rather than buying yet more supplies.
@Humdinger1 - Yes, thanks, I do have oil of cloves. It's pretty revolting tbh but it does numb the area a little. It's cheaper than buying the strongest branded oral painkilling gels.

Morning Campers,
Blue sky & sunshine are making a welcome difference to our corner of the world this morning. Big frost overnight. I'm going to lace my boots on shortly & pop out for a little walk before my coffee. A better night's sleep - the devil tooth didn't wake me until just before the alarm. It's so random - hardly needed any painkillers yesterday during the daytime, but had to begin today with a strong dose. I intend to be on the phone at the absolute crack of 8.30 on Fri to try & secure a visit to my dentist.
Anyway, I must stop going on about teeth, I'm boring myself here! Have cracked on with jobs good & early as I need to get everything ready for the cats arriving later this afternoon. I've mixed up a sourdough loaf, which is proving, tidied, done the ironing (forgot to moan about it, I did it so quickly!), written a nice card to my sister & added it to a magazine I'm sending her & done a survey. Minimal cooking needed tonight as the smoky slow cooker beef & butterbean stew I made yesterday provided enough for two days of meals plus a portion in a microwave mug for Mr F to take for his lunch at some point. Other leftovers for lunch today too - the last of the extra festive baking which didn't get eaten as planned at New Year when coviddy issues prevented my family visiting.
I don't want to be doing anything too energetic when the new cats arrive because they have both been in the Rescue for quite a long time & one of them was living rough for some months before that & will need calm, so I think that will be a good excuse to get on with sewing up my blanket squares. I have over half of it done now & it will almost certainly be on the bed by next week if not slightly earlier.
I also need to find the partial meal plan I wrote the other day, finish it & write the grocery shopping list. Since Lockdown, Mr F has got into the habit of mostly picking up the main grocery shop on his way home from work on Thursday, as he reckons it gives us more time to do other things at weekends, so he wants to continue with this, as the supermarket is also a lot less busy then too. That suits me fine....we visit any specialist shops - butcher, deli, market greengrocer, etc, when we are in town anyway.
Right, time for a little walk & to post my sister's parcel.
Hope everyone sees at least a few rays of sun today,
F x

Oh how lovely - two cats, I'm sure they will think they are in cat heaven once you have them settled into your home. We are hoping to add a puppy/dog to our home this year as we will both be retired, and can give our pet the attention it deserves. I'm loving following your posts and everyone's comments. I am currently knitting a jumper for my partner (second time as was too big the first time aaaargh), and am so bored with it, but not starting anything else until it is off the needles.
We are enjoying eating the leftovers from Christmas season, and hopefully will loose a little weight, and save money this year with careful food planning.
take care everyone xx6 -

I didn’t realise you were getting two cats. How lovely to choose ones that have been in the rescue for some time. They are a lucky pair indeed. Looking forward to hearing about them as they settle in.I hope you finally get an appointment for your tooth.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7

They are very stressed & nervous this morning - still hiding away, as it is such a big change for them being somewhere new after being in the Rescue for a long time. Lovely boys though.
